Of course we couldn't be happier that our daughter, Hermana López, has returned from her mission and she continues to excel and live life to the fullest. At least as much as a BYU-I student in her last semester before graduation will allow while still facing the most important decision(s) of her young life, but the mission has truly prepared her for what she is now facing. (Update as of September 2011, Sasha has since graduated from BYU-I and is now working full-time as a News Reporter for KPVI, an NBC / Fox affiliate based in the Pocatello / Idaho Falls / Rexburg area. You can check out her news reports online.)

We really miss the weekly letters, marvelous blessings and love that we felt for, and from, Argentina. It will forever hold a special place in our hearts as do all the people who touched our lives during her service in Buenos Aires West. Even with my bad memory I don't believe I'll ever forget some of these experiences. Again we thank each and every one of you for the support, kindness and fellowship that you showed Sasha while she served.

I also miss posting these blog messages as strange as that may sound since so much work and so many hours were put into the design and publication of this blog, but it was truly a labor of love and that wipes out most of the "labor" part and made it fun to do.

In the meantime we'd like to invite you to view Sasha's new blog. Hopefully she'll keep all of us posted on what she is doing. You can view it here, for now she is calling it "Scattered Avenue" and we invite you to subscribe to it and follow it.

I (the editor) have also decided to keep blogging, not with as much intensity, but it can be a fun thing to do and I've got to fill up this extra free time with something, right? Ha! Please join us in welcoming home our champion, our beautiful daughter, Hermana Sasha Zimmerman-López, at the completion of her missionary service in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission! We are so proud of everything she has done and are amazed to see how many lives she has touched and changed, not only in the mission field, but right here in our own home as well. We thank each and every one of you for your support and love before, during and after the time she was away. Most of all we thank our merciful God for protecting and blessing her with blessings, love and many miracles the entire time she was there. We are also grateful for her mission parents; President & Hermana Benton for the incredible amount of love and kindness they showed her. We're so grateful for each and every one of her 11 assigned companions as well as the other Hermanas of the West mission who knew, loved and served with her. We're grateful for the love and support of all the amazing and wonderful saints in Argentina who helped her to enjoy such an amazing amount of success, for feeding her, taking her places and for continuing to show support and love to all the new members that came unto Christ while she was there. We're grateful to our Stake President, Richard Houseman, for his love and kindness in welcoming Sasha home. We believe the best way to tell the rest of this story is through these photos... [Editor's Note; We wish there were a way to show in photographs the spiritual growth that took place in our family over the same time frame, that, I suppose is impossible, but we humbly and gratefully testify that the Lord greatly blessed our family with incredible spiritual growth and support during Sasha's missionary service and we would gladly say to any member contemplating missionary service that your family will be blessed because of all the good that you accomplish on a mission. As for the physical aspect in the time Sasha served, Dad lost 115 pounds and Mom lost 40 pounds {Additional Editor's Note; Looks hotter than ever!!}. (To Mom) Hello!!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I apologize for not writing last week! We are going full out! Lots of work and lots of things to do. We’re going to have at least four more baptisms before I leave! I’m so excited!!!

That is so great that Cody is going to go on a mission too! And in Utah! They baptize a lot there because of the good members and their help.

I heard the story about what happened with Nieve!!!! Hahahahaha. [***] You got stuck outside in the cold looking for her and she was inside the house! Ha! My companion and I have been laughing about it. I love Nieve!!! Hahaha. She’s so good and I love you also, kind of spaced out though! Hahaha.

That’s so sad that they’re having trouble finding people to feed the missionaries there! [Columbia] It’s as if they were feeding Jesus Christ because they are His representatives here on earth. And the blessings that one receives by doing it are huge!!!! It’s more; it’s a great opportunity to share the gospel with friends that don’t know it because they can invite them over at the same time too. I hope you keep feeding them.

Sorry I didn’t have much time to write last week. This week I don’t have much time either. But hey, at least I’m writing! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!! WOO! Did you get candy? Cards? Anything? My valentine is my companion... we started out great... with a huge cockroach in our bathroom. Then a spider climbed on her and she was freaking out, shaking all over the place. It was pretty funny! Ha-ha.

Today I’m visiting people in some of my old areas! [Ituzaingó 4 & Ciudad Evita] Hopefully they’ll be home!

It’s super hottt!

We are going to have more baptisms.

How is your fast going? Did you remember the whole time? That’s my main problem when I fast, I have to write notes to myself everywhere or else I forget! Ha-ha.

“Ever since we met Alberto, we knew that he was an elect of God, he didn’t drink or smoke, and it really was a miracle due to the efforts we put forth. He lived in the villas and it was very surprising that he didn’t have anything that would keep him from being baptized. Through Alberto we met many people. While we were working with him we met a Peruvian family that had a less active member and a nine year old girl named Antonella. In the beginning she did not want to listen to us, we tried to help her and we taught her about baptism in each lesson and even though she accepted the idea of baptism, she always said that we’d do it later! We really had challenges; her mother was leaving for Peru and was going to be taking Antonella with her, we did all we could, we fasted, we prayed a lot and we went to see what might happen. We found the family and spoke with them about the subject and they accepted the baptismal invitation prior to leaving for Peru and everything turned out much better than we expected. While working with Alberto everything simply moved forward, he was baptized without problems and Antonella too.

I feel the need to share that when we sacrifice all we have and we place our FAITH in Jesus Christ, everything – absolutely everything – is possible. We have a giant testimony of the Savior; He lives.

[Sasha] Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!

I remembered this morning that it was a holiday. Any plans? No I don’t think I need anything, just an extra suitcase... I have a lot of stuff. I plan on leaving most of my clothes, I don’t need it, it’s old and worn out and other people could really use it. I think you’d be ok brining your camera, we just can’t take it everywhere.

I thought I wrote you about when Hermana Benton came on Sunday. She gave the Relief Society class. It was good. She made brownies for everyone! I forgot to take pictures. We had a good asado afterwards.

My mini–missionary, Hermana López, came back to visit on Saturday. I got to see her for a while. She went to Mar de Plata and brought me back a little souvenir!

This week was really good. We have four baptismal dates. Two for the 19th and two for the 26th. We are still trying to get some more! Eva is doing great; she’s super excited for her baptism. She’s getting baptized this Saturday.

We are working with a man named Jorge. He’s really good. He comes to church all on his own; it’s been hard to teach him because he’s never home. So he has enough assistance [attendance] but not enough lessons. Yesterday after church the Zone Leaders had baptisms so we invited him to stay so he could see. Before the baptism we explained a little about what it is and invited him to be baptized. He said he would think about it. Well, that night (last night) we had a fireside in Ramos Mejia with our zone and President Benton came to talk to all our investigators about baptism!!!! It was waaaay good! The spirit was really strong. After the fireside we talked and ate. I asked the traveling assistants to come help us out getting a fecha [baptismal date] with him. So we talked to him and invited him to be baptized the 19th. He accepted and said he’d do everything he could to follow through. He said if for some reason he didn’t make it, he’d get baptized the next weekend. So that was sweet!

Then two girls (sisters) Melanie (10) and Paola (12) have baptismal dates for the 26th. They are Mayra’s cousins and they’ve been coming. We talked to the parents and even though they aren’t members they support their daughters in their decision. :) We may even have a huge zone baptism on the 26th... all of us together; I think we’re going to have a lot. We’re trying to have 200. Anyway, the girls know that you’re coming down and without me saying anything, Paola actually said that she wanted you to baptize her!!!! So that’s pretty sweet! I already said yes for you. So bring your whites! [Paola just became my favorite investigator EVER!]

That’s about all! I had divisions in Las Heras with Hermana Scanlon. It was fun; I got to see some of the people I met a year back when I was there with Hermana Godfrey. We sacked a fecha [took out a baptismal date] and compromised some people [got them to commit] to go to Church who hadn’t gone. I don’t know what ended up happening, but I’m sure they did great this week.

[*** The story shared with Sasha about Nieve (our little white Bichon Frise, her name in Spanish means "snow")... The massive amounts of snow did bring about one funny experience for Paqui early one morning. While it was still dark out, Paqui got up to let Nieve (the dog) go outside to go 'outside' and Paqui wasn't paying very close attention. On top of that for some reason Paqui keeps thinking that she can just let Nieve go out there without hooking up her chain and that Nieve will return with no problem. We have had to go in search of the dog several times because of this. In any case with the nearly 20 inches of snow that fell, Nieve doesn't like to venture very far away from the door, even though that is her name, she doesn't like to get out in it (the snow). Paqui got distracted and while she wasn't looking Nieve came back in the house, but Paqui did NOT see that happen. Paqui started to look for Nieve and saw her tiny footprints in the snow where she had been walking and Paqui thought that Nieve had fallen into the snow and was now going to drown in the snow (Paqui's words, not mine), so then Paqui started to panic and went out in her stocking feet to try to rescue Nieve and despite all of her valient and heroic efforts, she could not find Nieve. Her feet were now wet and frozen and stayed that way until she turned around and saw Nieve sitting safely inside the house. Sweet! That dog has a way of getting back at your mother better than any human!]

¡Feliz día de San Valentín! Perdón que no pude escribir la semana pasada. Estamos a full! Mucho trabajo y muchas cosas para hacer. ¡Vamos a tener por lo menos cuatro bautismos más antes de que me vaya! ¡¡¡Estoy re animada!!!

¡Qué bueno que Cody se va a la misión también! ¡Y en Utah! Allí bautizan mucho porque los miembros son muy buenos y ayudan.

¡¡¡Escuche lo que paso con Nieve!!! jajajajajajajaja ¡Te quedaste en todo el frio buscándola y ella estaba dentro de la casa! Ja. Mi compañera y yo nos hemos estado riendo. ¡¡¡Amo a nieve!!! jajaja ¡Es tan buena! ¡Y a usted también, tan desconcentrada! jajjaaaa

¡Que feo que nadie quiere dar de comer a los misioneros! [Columbia] Es como si estuviesen dando de comer a Jesucristo porque ellos son Sus representantes acá en la tierra. ¡¡¡Y las bendiciones que uno recibe al hacerlo son tan grandes!!!! Es más, es una gran oportunidad para compartir el evangelio con amigos que no conocen porque pueden invitar a sus amigos a la casa también. Espero que sigan dándoles de comer.

Lo siento no tuve mucho tiempo para escribir la semana pasada. Esta semana no tengo mucho tiempo tampoco. ¡Pero oye, al menos estoy escribiendo! ¡¡¡Feliz día de San Valentín!!! ¡WOO! ¿Conseguirás caramelos? ¿Tarjetas? ¿Nada? Mi Valentín es mi compañera... empezamos en gran manera... con una cucaracha enorme dentro de nuestro cuarto de baño. Entonces una araña subió en ella y ella estaba asustada, estaba temblando. ¡Fue bastante gracioso! Jajá.

[Dad] ¡¡¡Wú-Hú!!! ¡Historia de EXITO! ¡Fabuloso! ¡Estoy RE orgulloso de ti! ¡Qué tengas un día lleno de diversiones y bendiciones! ¡No sabes cuánto te quiero! Papá

[Sasha] ¡¡¡Feliz Día de San Valentín!!!

Me acordé esta mañana que era día de fiesta. ¿Tenéis planes?

No creo que necesito nada, sólo una maleta extra... Tengo un montón de cosas para regresar. Estoy pensando dejar la mayor parte de mi ropa, no lo necesito, es viejo y medio gastado y otras personas realmente podrían utilizarlo. Creo que sería aceptable traer la cámara, sólo no podemos llevarlo a todas las partes.

Pensé que te había escrito sobre la visita de la Hermana Benton cuando ella vino el domingo pasado. Ella dio la clase de la Sociedad de Socorro. Era bueno. ¡Ella hizo brownies para todos! Me olvidé de tomar fotografías. Tuvimos un buen asado después.

Mi mini–misionera, la Hermana López, volvió a visitarme el sábado. Pude visitar con ella un rato. ¡Ella fue a Mar del Plata y me trajo un pequeño recuerdo!

Esta semana fue realmente buena. Tenemos cuatro fechas bautismales. Dos para el 19 y dos para el 26. ¡Además estamos intentando obtener más! Eva está muy bien; está súper emocionada por su bautismo. Ella se va a bautizar este sábado.

Estamos trabajando con un hombre llamado Jorge. Es muy bueno. Él viene a la iglesia por su propia cuenta, pero ha sido difícil enseñarle porque nunca está en casa. Tiene suficiente asistencia, pero no suficientes lecciones. Ayer después de la iglesia los líderes de zona tenían bautismos así nos lo invitamos a quedarse para que pudiera verlo. Antes del bautismo le explicamos un poco acerca de lo que es y lo invitamos a ser bautizado. Dijo que lo pensaría. ¡¡Bueno, esa noche (anoche) tuvimos una charla fogonera en Ramos Mejía con nuestra zona y el presidente Benton habló a todos nuestros investigadores sobre el bautismo!! ¡Era muuuuy bueno! El espíritu era muy fuerte. Después de la charla fogonera hablamos y comimos. Les pedimos a los ayudantes a venir a ayudarnos a conseguir una fecha bautismal con él. Así que hablamos con él y lo invitamos a ser bautizado el 19. Él aceptó y dijo que haría todo lo posible para seguir en adelante. Dijo que si por alguna razón no lo hiciera ese día, lo haría el próximo fin de semana. ¡Eso fue muy dulce!

A continuación, dos niñas (hermanas), Melanie (10) y Paola (12) tienen fechas bautismales para el 26. Son primos de Mayra y han venido varias veces a la iglesia. Hablamos con los padres y a pesar de que no sean miembros, ellos apoyan a sus hijas en su decisión. :) Es posible aún que tengamos un bautismo enorme de zona el 26... Todos juntos. Creo que vamos a tener muchos. Estamos tratando de obtener 200. ¡¡¡De todos modos, las niñas saben que vienes aquí y sin decirles nada sobre el asunto, Paola dijo que quería que la bautizaras!!! ¡Así es bastante dulce! Ya le respondí que sí de tu parte. ¡Así que traigas tu ropa blanca!

¡Eso es básicamente todo! Tuve divisiones en Las Heras con la Hermana Scanlon. Fue muy divertido; Llegamos a ver algunas de las personas que conocí hace un año atrás cuando estuve allí con la Hermana Godfrey. Sacamos una fecha bautismal y a otras personas les comprometimos a ir a la iglesia que no habían ido por un tiempo. No sé cómo terminó todo, pero estoy segura que tuvieron una buena semana.

Heeeey!!!!

Soooo sorry, I had no time at all to write yesterday! I thought I would be able to use the Valle family’s computer when I got home but they weren’t home, probably at a Family Home Evening with the family somewhere. So yes, this weekend was AMAZING!!!! Both Antonella Brizuela and Alberto Schenone got baptized. It was great!

Antonella and her mom are leaving for Peru tomorrow and you won’t meet them because they won’t be back before I leave. They invited us over for lunch today, I really want to go but I don’t know because we have district meeting. Either way, we will stop by to say good-bye. They gave me presents and pictures of the family on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, Hermana Benton came to give our class in Relief Society. It was really good. We got to help out a little too. It was about service and at the end she made amazing brownies for all the Hermanas. :) We then took her to Daniel Gomez’s house to eat asado! That is where we’re going to go when you get here! He also invited Presidente and Hermana Benton to come that day too. I don’t know if they’ll be able to, but they are going to try!

Yesterday we went to Lujan!!! It was so neat! I got to see a bunch of people. We stopped by the Peralta family and met Camilo, the newest member of the family!

We got to visit Mario and Celeste a family that I found with Hermana Clark, then Hermana Scott went and took over the teaching and now Hermana Lewis gets to baptize them. There’s 6 in the family, they have two daughters and two sons. The two sons are too young to get baptized, but the rest of them are getting baptized on the 19th. Mario and Celeste are getting married on the 18th!

We also stopped by the Banega family!!! They are doing amazing! They saved up money to go to the temple this month (in Uruguay) and do baptisms. Well, there wasn’t enough room for all of them, so they don’t get to go. :( But...they are really looking forward to August and they are saving up all their money so they can take the whole family to the temple to be sealed!!!!! That made me so happy! They said when I left the area they just wanted to quit altogether, and they did, for a week...but then they realized they needed to keep going and they have. They’ve only missed one Sunday since they got baptized and it was the Sunday after I left. But they’re good, they’re going strong!

¡¡¡¡Heeeey!!!!

¡Lo siento, yo no tenía tiempo para escribir ayer! Pensé que sería capaz de utilizar la computadora de la familia Valle cuando llegué a casa, pero no estaban en casa, probablemente estaban celebrando la noche de hogar con la familia en algún lugar. ¡¡¡Así que sí, este fin de semana fue ASOMBROSO!!! Antonella Brizuela y Alberto Schenone se bautizaron. ¡Fue genial!

Antonella y su mamá se van mañana para Perú y por tanto no vas a poder reunirte con ellas porque ellas no volverán antes de que nos vayamos. Nos invitaron para el almuerzo hoy, realmente quiero ir, pero no sé, porque tenemos la reunión de distrito. De cualquier manera, nos detendremos a decirlas adiós. Me dieron regalos y fotos de la familia el domingo.

También el domingo, la Hermana Benton vino para dar nuestra clase en la sociedad de socorro. Era realmente bueno. Llegamos a ayudarla un poco en la clase también. Se trataba de servicio y al final hizo brownies increíbles para todas las Hermanas. :) ¡Entonces nos la llevamos a la casa de Daniel Gómez a comer asado! ¡Es donde vamos a ir cuando llegas aquí! Además el Hermano Gómez les invitó al Presidente y a la Hermana Benton venirse ese día también. ¡No sé si será posible, pero van a intentar!

Llegamos a visitara Mario y Celeste que es una familia que encontramos la Hermana Clark y yo, entonces a continuación, Hermana Scott se hizo carga de enseñarles y ahora la Hermana Lewis les va a bautizar. ¡¡¡¡¡¡También pasamos a ver a la familia Banega!!!!!! ¡Son increíbles! Están ahorrando dinero para ir al templo este mes (en Uruguay) y para hacer bautismos. Bueno, no había suficiente espacio para todos ellos, entonces no pudieron ir. :( ¡¡¡Pero tienen muchas ganas de ir en agosto y están ahorrando todo su dinero para que puedan llevar a toda la familia al templo para ser sellados!!! ¡Eso me hace tan feliz! Dijeron que cuando me fui quisieron dejar de ir por completo y lo hicieron durante una semana... pero, a continuación, se dieron cuenta de que necesitaban seguir adelante y lo han hecho. ¡Sólo ha perdido un domingo desde sus bautismos y fue el domingo después de que yo me fui, desde entonces son buenos, y siguen muy fuertes!

Wow! There is so little time remaining… its crazy!

How’s Jordan doing? Tell her thanks just the same even though I won’t be able to do that.

How is work going? Here it is going good. We’re working a lot. We have our Zone Conference tomorrow.

I cooked today! It’s called “Ñoquis” – and I would rate them a 10! [Editor's note: Flour and potato combined, topped with cheese and tomatoe sauce... with all those carbs how could it possibly taste bad?! Click on the photo for more information.]

The father of Eva, one of our investigators with a baptismal date, died on Saturday. It was all very sad... we were there just after it happened. I’ll tell you more about it in Dad’s letter.

What classes am I taking this year? If I can and if there is room, I would like to learn to play the guitar, so if they offer it, I want to take it. I need to develop my talents.

That’s great that you’ve lost so much weight. I need to lose some badly too! Not today... and not tomorrow either, but maybe on Wednesday I’ll start. Ha-ha.

(To Dad) Heeey! Happy February (almost)!!!

Have you been talking to the Lujaneros? That’s good! I was thinking about going there next Monday or maybe the Monday after that to say hi to everyone and to make arrangements for when you come. Just to make sure everyone will be at home that day, etc. The youth convention was a lot of fun; both Braian and Santiago Banega were there. Also a girl from a family who we re-activated was there!

This week was... good... weird... I don’t know how to describe it. Ok, first I’ll start off with Alberto. He is amazing!!!! I love that guy! He has such a strong testimony and so much faith, it is incredible! He went to church on his own on his bike. We have a Family Home Evening with him tonight and with a member family (the Furtado’s). He has a baptismal date for Saturday, February 5th. But he only has 2 assistances and he needs 3, so we are going to see what we can do. If we can work around it or not.

Antonella is also doing good. She came to church on Sunday with her mom. After church I showed her the baptismal font, she loved it and was asking if she could get baptized Saturday. :) The crazy part is, her mother bought plane tickets for her and Antonella to go to Peru on February 9th and they won’t be back for at least a month!!! So we have no options, we need to baptize her this weekend because for one she needs to have the spirit with her, it will be a great help in her life and for two, I may never see her again, I’ve been working with her for the last 3 months and I know she has a testimony. They are also coming to our Family Home Evening tonight.

Finally, Eva... this is the crazy part of the week. So on Thursday we went over to Eva’s house to have a lesson with her. When we got there she wasn’t ready, so we told her we’d wait for her. While she was showering her father came out and started talking about his frustrations with us. He said he was tired of us coming by his house and he said he didn’t want us to teach his daughter anymore. He also yelled a few other things like how the church is false and there are no prophets and how God doesn’t exist. Well, obviously as a missionary we don’t argue back because it’s not what Christ would do... but I did bear my testimony. I told him that prophets did exist and so did God, I told him the church was true and that someday he would have to stand before God and that at that moment he would know that He lives and He would have to answer for everything he did in this life, whether it was good or whether it was evil. I also told him that we respected him and that we would not teach Eva at his house anymore if he did not want us to (she’s 20), but that we were not going to stop teaching her unless she asked us to stop, we would just do it somewhere else.

Well, we had our lesson with Eva and everything was good. She was still excited about her baptism, etc. We made our next appointment with her for Saturday at 3p.m. Saturday arrived and we went to Eva’s house as planned. I was a little scared just because of everything that had happened the time before, I didn’t want to make Eva’s dad (Ignacio) mad because he’s a big guy and fairly young still. So we knock on the door and her little brother Christian answers. He told us that his whole family was sleeping the siesta, I had my doubts as to if he was lying or not, but I said we’d come back later. About two hours later we showed back up to Eva’s house. By the amount of people and all the noise around the neighborhood we could tell something was up. A neighbor of Eva’s waved us over to him, we went over and he informed us that Eva’s father had just passed away about 20 minutes earlier!!!!!!!! I could not believe it! We spotted Eva sitting down by a tree outside so we went over to her; I knelt down next to her and said I was sorry. She just hugged me really tight and started crying and at the same time yelling WHY? WHY DID HE HAVE TO TAKE HIM? ...I didn’t know what to say, there was nothing to say... I just cried with her. We took her for a walk and bought her ice-cream, then we took her to a members house who she has become friends with (recent convert Roxana Flores). When we left she told us she still wanted to go to church tomorrow so we said we’d stop by to look for her.

On Sunday morning we went to the house but nobody was home. A neighbor told us they were at a funeral home. We went to the funeral home, not to try to take her to church but just to be there for her. When we got there I had one of the saddest experiences of my life. Everyone was around the coffin, the workers were piling the dirt on top of it, and in the middle, right on top of the coffin was Christian, Eva’s brother, kneeling down and crying and screaming. No one could get him to move from on top of the coffin, so they just piled the dirt on top of him too (he eventually got up). It was really a sad experience for all of us. In all honesty, Ignacio was a nice guy... he’d always get us water to drink, he’d get us chairs to sit on, he’d ask questions about the church, etc. We don’t know the cause of his death but I imagine it had something to do with his liver; he was a pretty big drinker.

The last conversation I had with him kept re-playing in my head and I have just been so shocked, I mean, I would have never imagined in a million years that he would have passed away two days later. I certainly didn’t wish that upon him! But I know that the Lord has his time for everything, sometimes we don’t understand why, but someday we will.

That’s great that Mike’s dad wrote you! Ha-ha. I hope you didn’t startle him either with your response! Ha-ha.

¡FAAAA! Ya queda poquito tiempo... ¡Qué loco!

¿Cómo anda Jordan? Dale las gracias igual, aunque no pueda hacerlo.

¿Cómo va el trabajo? Aquí todo bien. Estamos trabajando mucho. Tenemos nuestra conferencia de zona mañana.

¡Hoy cociné! ¡Se llaman “Ñoquis” - están de 10!

El papá de una de nuestras fechas bautismales (Eva) falleció el sábado. Fue muy triste... estuvimos ahí cuando pasó. Voy a contar más detalles en la carta a papá.

¿Qué clases voy a tomar este año? Si puedo y si hay espacio me gustaría aprender la guitarra, así que si hay alguna clase quiero estar ahí. Necesito desarrollar más talentos.

Qué bueno que perdiste tanto peso. ¡Yo necesito empezar pero mal! Hoy no... y mañana tampoco, pero quizás que el miércoles ya empiece. Jajá.

(A Papá) ¡¡Heeey!! ¡Feliz Febrero (casi)!

¿Has estado hablando con los Lujaneros? ¡Eso es bueno! Estaba pensando en ir allí el próximo lunes o tal vez el lunes después para saludar a todos y hacer arreglos para cuando vengas. Sólo para asegurarme de que todos estarán en casa ese día, etc. La convención de los jóvenes era muy divertido, tanto Braian Banega como Santiago estaban allí. ¡También una chica de una familia que reactivamos estaba allí!

Esta semana fue... bueno... raro... No sé cómo describirlo. Bueno, primero voy a empezar con Alberto. ¡¡Él es increíble!! ¡Me encanta este hombre! ¡Él tiene un fuerte testimonio y mucha fe, es increíble! Él iba a la iglesia por su propia cuenta en su bicicleta. Tenemos una Noche de Hogar con él esta noche en la casa de la familia Furtado que son miembros. Él tiene una fecha de bautismo para el sábado, 5 de febrero. Sin embargo, sólo tiene dos asistencias a la iglesia y necesita tres, así que vamos a ver qué podemos hacer. Si somos capaces de trabajar alrededor de ella o no.

Antonella también va muy bien. Ella vino a la iglesia el domingo con su mamá. Después de la iglesia le mostré la pila bautismal, a ella le encantaba y me preguntó si podía ser bautizado el sábado. :) ¡La locura es que su madre compró los billetes de avión para ella y Antonella para ir a Perú el 9 de febrero y que no volverá por lo menos un mes! Así que no tenemos opciones, tenemos que bautizarla este fin de semana porque para ella necesita tener el espíritu consigo, que le será de gran ayuda en su vida y segundo tal vez nunca le vaya a volver a ver en mi vida. He estado trabajando con ella durante los últimos 3 meses y sé que ella tiene un testimonio. También van a venir a nuestra noche Noche de Hogar.

Por último, Eva... ésta es la parte loca de la semana. El jueves nos fuimos a la casa de Eva a tener una clase con ella. Cuando llegamos allí no estaba preparada, así que la dijimos que esperaríamos a ella. Mientras se duchaba su padre salió y empezó a hablar de sus frustraciones con nosotras. Dijo que estaba cansado de que nosotras pasásemos por su casa y nos dijo que no quería enseñásemos a su hija más. También gritó algunas otras cosas, por ejemplo, como la iglesia es falsa y no hay profetas y que Dios no existe. Bueno, obviamente como misioneras no discutimos porque no es lo que Cristo haría... pero sí que le testifiqué mi testimonio. Le dije que los profetas existían y también Dios existe. Le dije que esta era la iglesia verdadera y que algún día tendría que presentarse ante Dios y que en ese momento iba a saber que Él vive y él tendría que responder por todo lo que haya hecho en esta vida, si fuera bueno o si fuera malo. También le dije que lo respetaba y que no íbamos a enseñar a Eva en su casa ya si él no quisiera que nosotras pasásemos a su casa, pero que no iban a dejar de enseñar ella (ella tiene 20 años) a menos que ella nos pidiera que dejásemos de hacerlo. Que la enseñaríamos en otro lugar diferente.

Bueno, tuvimos nuestra lección con Eva y todo era bueno. Ella continuaba entusiásticamente por su bautismo, etc. Hicimos nuestra próxima cita con ella para el sábado a las 15:00. Llegó el sábado y nos fuimos a ver a Eva en su casa como planeamos. Yo estaba un poco nerviosa por todo lo que había sucedido la vez anterior, yo no quería enfadarle al padre (Ignacio) porque, es un tipo grande y bastante joven todavía. Así que llamamos a la puerta y su hermano Cristian abrió la puerta. Él nos dijo que toda su familia estaba durmiendo la siesta, tuve mis dudas sobre la veracidad de eso, pero le dije que volveríamos más tarde. Unas dos horas más tarde regresamos a la casa de Eva. Por la cantidad de personas y todo el ruido alrededor del barrio se podría sentir que algo estaba pasando. ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Un vecino de Eva, nos saludó y nos acercamos a él y nos informó de que el padre de Eva acababa de morir unos 20 minutos antes!!!!!!!! ¡Yo no me lo podía creer! Entonces la vimos a Eva sentada afuera junto a un árbol y nos acercamos a ella, me arrodillé a su lado y le dije que lo sentía. Ella sólo me abrazó muy apretada y empezó a llorar y, al mismo tiempo gritaba; “¿POR QUÉ? ¿Por qué tuvo que llevármelo?” Yo no sabía qué decirle, no había nada que decir... y llorábamos con ella. La llevamos a dar un paseo y le compramos un helado, y luego la llevamos a una casa de los miembros que se ha convertido en amiga de ella (la recién convertida Roxana Flores). Cuando salimos nos dijo que aún quería ir a la iglesia mañana, así que la dijimos que pasaríamos por ella.

El domingo por la mañana fuimos a la casa de Eva, pero nadie estaba en casa. Un vecino nos dijo que estaban en una funeraria. Fuimos a la funeraria, no para tratar de llevarla a la iglesia sino sólo para estar con ella. Cuando llegamos allí tuve uno de las experiencias más tristes de mi vida. Todo el mundo estaba alrededor del ataúd, los trabajadores estaban echando la tierra encima la parte superior de lo mismo, y en el centro, justo en la parte superior del ataúd estaba Cristian, el hermano de Eva, de rodillas y llorando y gritando. Nadie podía hacerle quitar de la parte superior del ataúd, por lo que empezaron a tirarle la tierra encima de él también (finalmente se levantó). Fue realmente una experiencia triste para todos nosotros. Con toda honestidad, Ignacio era un buen tipo... que siempre nos traía agua para beber, y nos ponía sillas para sentarnos, y nos hacía preguntas sobre la iglesia, etc. No sabemos la causa de su muerte, pero me imagino que tenía algo que ver con su hígado, era un bebedor bastante grande.

La última conversación que tuve con él lo he estado repitiendo varias veces en mi cabeza y fui tan sorprendida, quiero decir, yo nunca hubiera imaginado en un millón de años que él fallecería a los dos días después de hablarle. ¡Desde luego, eso nunca fuera mi deseo! Sé que el Señor tiene su tiempo para todo, a veces no entendemos el por qué, pero algún día lo comprenderemos.

¡Eso está muy bien que hayas escrito con el padre de Mike! Jajá. ¡Espero que no le hayas asustado con una respuesta muy larga! Jajá.

(To Dad) ¡Hola!

Ha-ha. I enjoyed the story about Tony and the baptismal font! *** That’s really funny! He said he had fun at the dance. Did Lindsey go too? Tell Ralph and Jan I said thanks for the gift! I also got Mike’s package, I don’t know if I mentioned it or not... but it was fun. I have more materials to help me workout. Hah!

All of the new missionaries that arrived in January 2011 and their trainers together with President Benton. The Hermanas that are along the front row (from left) are; Hulen, Schneider, Daniels, Scanlon, Svedin, López, Danes, and Hobbs.

This week was really good! I’m training Hermana Ashley Svedin. She’s from Weiser, Idaho. It’s a small town I think I’ve heard of maybe one other time. She has 6 siblings, she’s the 4th. Super red hair, white skin, a little shorter than me. No Spanish... but it’s slowly getting better! Ha-ha. She likes to speak it and that’s good because if she didn’t she wouldn’t learn it. We are always speaking in Spanish on the street. She is trying; I can see how hard it must be.

We saw a lot of miracles. Alberto is progressing so much! He came to church and really liked it. He’ll be getting baptized in February. Eva came as well. This time she went with the young women’s. She is older (20) but she gets along with them, so I told her to go with them if she wanted. Poor girl, there’s like nobody else her age besides us.

Antonella came and also her sister Juana. It was really good. We are going to have an FHE with them tonight. Antonella is supposed to be getting baptized this Saturday; we still need permission from the dad. So pray hard!

Another man showed up on Sunday too, his name is Jorge. It was a guy that Hermana Lewis and I taught, he always said he would come and he never did. Well Hermana Svedin and I ran into him the other day, like always, I invited him to come, he said he would, but of course I didn’t believe him after he failed us so many thousands of times. But he really did come! It was great! So we had 5 investigators at church! 3 of them have baptismal dates!

We also had another miracle... On Saturday our Zone leaders called us (our areas border each other) and they gave us a reference of this guy whose family was members except for him. He didn’t believe in God or anything up until about 15 days ago when he had this incredible experience. To make a long story short, he believes! He wants to come closer to Christ and he wants to change his life around. His family has been inactive for the last 3 or 4 years but we taught and we testified and they are going to come next Sunday! This could very well be my last baptism because he has to get married legally and everything and that takes a while. :) His name is Ricardo.

So that’s about it, we’re starting off the transfer really good. I’ll send pictures!

(To Mom) Hello!

Well, we’ll see what we can work out in regards to the General Conference and all. You might talk to Jordan or Brittney since both of them work at the MTC, maybe I can substitute teach or something for a couple of weeks. I believe they pay pretty good there.

We had a great week and we’ve started strong. My poor companion doesn’t speak any Spanish! She is trying, but well… Eventually she’ll get it! I hope she can do it before I leave.

Dad never said anything about Utah. He didn’t say yes… and he didn’t say no.

It is so incredibly hot here! I am going to return bronzed! I’m drinking lots of water. Are you excited for me to return? There’s so little time left. I will try not to spend anything. One thing though I might buy some clothes for my last transfer meeting. I have to go up and give my testimony in front of everyone and I have to look cute! Ha-ha.

I have my new companion... Her name is Hermana Svedin, she’s from Idaho. We had a good week this week; she speaks almost no Spanish, but it’s ok, she’s learning little by little.

How is school going? Is it pretty cold there? I’m dying here... it’s so hot!!!!! Nothing much has happened. I get to start visiting my old areas on P-day so I might start to do that and plan good everything that we’re going to do when dad comes.

[*** Editor's Notes; It just doesn't seem possible, but I realized that barring some strange circumstance, most of the lists on the sidebar of the blog are now complete. All of the areas she will serve in have been listed and the eleven wonderful Hermanas that she has had the privlege of calling "Compañera" are listed. My heart fills with joy and gratitude as I contemplate the impact that these wonderful ladies and areas have had on her life. Words just can't describe the joy that Sasha's mission has brought me.

Here is the story that was shared with Sasha about her brother, Tony, in the Temple. I was going to mention another "fun" moment that I had in the Temple with your brother. As mentioned, Mom & I had the honor of helping two different wards with the youth as they participated in baptisms and it was truly a wonderful experience. It was so great to see so many parents and their children together performing ordinances in the Temple. For example both Brother & Sister Roberts were there as their daughter was baptized for the first time in the Temple and I can tell you that they were absolutely glowing with love, the Spirit and joy as that moment took place. Brother Paul Carron was able to baptize his young son for the first time in the Temple. He was so proud of him. Gave him a hug. It was truly a tender, lovely moment. The Bear Creek Ward was first and they had already concluded many of the baptisms by the time I got down to the baptistry area, but I got there just in time to be able to confirm all of the names that your brother, Tony, was doing. It was great as nearly every name on his list was a Latino. I don't know if he appreciated it as much as I do, but again, it was a lovely tender moment.

Well, since I was dressed in Temple clothes and not the jumpsuit for baptisms I was not able to actually baptize your brother, which is fine, my dear friend, Brother Roberts, was down in the water and I was sitting as a witness. One of the first names that came up was a Latino name which made me very proud and Brother Roberts handled the pronunciation really well. He was able to get Tony baptized under the water perfectly fine.

However, what happened next was a bit of a shock to all of us and I still don't know how or why it happened. As Tony, your wonderful brother, came back up out of the water, he sort of bent over, placed his forefinger on one eye and his thumb on the other as if he was getting the water out of his eyes, then all of a sudden, with that giant mop of hair on his head, he started to rapidly shake his head from left to right, just like a dog that had came up out of the water. I mean he splattered water EVERYWHERE!! Including me, there were five people all around the font; two witnesses, the recorder, a sister handing out towels and another waiting their turn - he got EVERYONE wet! He got all of the glass surrounding the font wet! Poor Brother Roberts just stood there in shock as he was closest to the comical tragedy and nearly drown himself from all the water that covered him! Ha! Brother Roberts had this dumbfounded look on his face like; "What are you doing or are you okay?"

I have been cracking up laughing about it almost every time I think about it!! Okay, well, we thought he would realize that wasn't acceptable behavior, but he did it again on the second time!! I finally said; "Tony! Stop doing that!" He later explained that he always does that when he comes up out of a swimming pool! I said, just rub off your eyes, but don't shake your head when you come up out of the baptismal font! Only your brother could innocently pull off the most irreverant moment at the Temple!

(A Papá) ¡Hola!

Jajá. ¡Me gustó la historia sobre la pila bautismal y Tony! ¡Era realmente gracioso! Dijo que lo había pasado bien en la danza. ¿¿Fue Lindsey al baile también?? Dile a Ralph y Jan que dije gracias por el regalo. También conseguí el paquete de Mike, no sé si lo he mencionado o no... pero fue muy divertido. Tengo más materiales que me ayuden a hacer ejercicios. ¡Ja!

Todos los misioneros nuevos que llegaron en enero de 2.011 y sus entrenadores junto al Presidente Benton. Las Hermanas que están delante (desde la izquierda) son; Hulen, Schneider, Daniels, Scanlon, Svedin, López, Danes, y Hobbs.

¡Esta semana fue realmente buena! Estoy entrenando Hermana Ashley Svedin. Ella es de Weiser, Idaho. Es una pequeña ciudad que creo que he escuchado tal vez una vez. Ella tiene 6 hermanos, ella es la cuarta. Tiene el pelo súper rojo, la piel blanca, un poco más bajita que yo. Nada de español... ¡pero poco a poco se está mejorando! Jajá. A ella le gusta hablarlo y eso es bueno porque si ella no lo hiciera ella no lo aprendería. Siempre estamos hablando en español en la calle. Ella está tratando; puedo ver lo difícil que es.

Vimos muchos milagros. ¡Alberto está progresando tanto! Llegó a la Iglesia y realmente le gustó. Se va a bautizar en febrero. Eva llegó también. Esta vez, ella fue con las jóvenes. Ella es un poco más mayor (20), pero ella se lo pasa bien junta a ellas, por lo que le dije que fuera con ellos si quisiera. Pobre chica, no hay nadie más de su edad además de nosotros.

Antonella llegó y también su hermana Juana. Era realmente bueno. Vamos a tener una Noche de Hogar con ellas esta noche. Antonella se debe bautizar este sábado; todavía necesitamos permiso del padre. ¡Así que orad duramente!

Otro hombre se presentó el domingo también, su nombre es Jorge. Era un hombre que Hermana Lewis y yo enseñamos, siempre nos decía que él vendría a la iglesia y nunca lo hizo. Bien, Hermana Svedin y yo nos encontramos con él el otro día, como siempre, lo invitamos a venir, dijo que sí, pero por supuesto no lo creía ya que había faltado los miles de veces anteriormente. ¡Pero realmente vino! ¡Fue genial! ¡Así que tuvimos 5 investigadores en la Iglesia! ¡3 de ellos tienen fechas bautismales!

También tuvimos otro milagro... El sábado nuestros líderes de zona nos llamaron (nuestras zonas tienen fronteras entre sí) y nos dieron una referencia de un hombre cuya familia son miembros todos menos él. No creía en Dios, ni nada hasta hace unos 15 días, cuando él tuvo una experiencia increíble. Para hacer una historia larga más corta… ¡ahora él cree! Él quiere acercarse a Cristo y quiere cambiar su vida para lo mejor. ¡Su familia ha estado inactivo durante los últimos 3 o 4 años pero les enseñamos y les testificamos y ellos todos van a venir el próximo domingo! Esto bien puede ser mi último bautismo porque se tienen que casar legalmente y eso lleva un tiempo. :) Su nombre es Ricardo.

Tuvimos una semana re buena. Estamos empezando fuerte. ¡Pobre mi compañera, no habla nada pero nada de castellano! Está tratando, pero bueno... ¡Ya va a conseguirlo! Espero que sea antes de que me vaya.

¡Hace un calor impresionante acá! Voy a regresar bien bronceada! Estoy tomando mucha agua. ¿Estas animada para mi regreso? Ya queda re poquito. Voy a tratar de no gastar nada. Lo único que quizás compre es ropa para mi última reunión de traslados. Tengo que subir y dar mi testimonio enfrente de todos y tengo que parecer linda! Jajá.

¿Había mucha gente que se rieron del discurso de papá? Recuerdo reírme cuando me habló sobre lo mismo cuando le diste la patada en el ojo.

¿Fuiste a la danza con tu novia? ¿Tú realmente bailaste? ¿Había mucha gente?

¡Qué suerte tienes! ¡Pudiste ir al templo! ¿Quién más fue?

Tengo mi compañera nueva... su nombre es Hermana Svedin, ella es de Idaho. Tuvimos una buena semana esta semana; ella no habla casi nada de español, pero está bien, ella está aprendiendo poco a poco.

¿Cómo va la escuela? ¿Es bastante frío allí? Estoy muriendo aquí... ¡¡¡¡¡es tan caliente!!!!! No ha ocurrido mucho. Tengo permiso ya para ir a visitar mis antiguas zonas durante el día de preparación por lo que voy a comenzar a hacerlo y planificar bien todo lo que vamos a hacer cuando venga papá.

(To Dad) Hello!

Ha-ha isn’t it funny how one little photo can bring so much joy to some, but so much embarrassment to others? Why would you post that?! It was raining and cold and there was postre [dessert] I was trying to enjoy. The Valle family also has a video of me singing with Hermana López here last night... it’s a good song about the mission to the tune of La Bamba, but I made sure that they don’t send it to you... Why? Because I know you’ll post it! Ha-ha.

We just finished our transfer meeting. I’m training again!!! Me, Hermana Hobbs, Hermana Hulen and Hermana Daniels. Hermana Hobbs and I are together tonight until they get here tomorrow! So we’re going to have fun, we’ve been remembering old times and laughing. We were just laughing because Tony told me he has a girlfriend... then you wrote about how he just got his braces off... ha-ha now it makes sense!!! Hah! How cute! Did you send me any pictures of him with his new teeth?

Oh, and as far as the training, Hermano Valle and I think I’m getting Hermana Svedin (I don’t even know how to begin to pronounce that). We’ll see tomorrow!

Hey! Hermana Jensen got married?! That’s great! To who? She looks gorgeous in that picture! Guess who’s next? Ha-ha! Joking! Don’t call me trunky!

I was sad to see Hermana López leave. She was great! But we will get to visit her when you come! My little mini-me! Ha-ha. She’s going to be of great help to her family, especially those who aren’t members.

Maria Elisa was confirmed on Sunday! She’s doing great! We found a family, they are the Celeiro family and they are great! Especially the daughter, she’s 20, her name is Eva. She’s so good!!!! She came to church on Sunday and got a little emotional; she’s got a lot of tough stuff in her life. One of the things is that she suffers from Epilepsy and so she has seizures all the time. It’s really sad because it has messed up her face because of the attacks; she’s knocked out her front teeth, messed up her eyes, etc. She takes medication which helps, and she received a priesthood blessing on Sunday. After church I took her to the baptismal font, we went in and shut the door. I told her a little about baptism and what it means, then I invited her to be baptized February 5th and she accepted!

Alberto didn’t come on Sunday. I don’t know what happened to him. We will stop by tomorrow. We have a few other families we are working with. Also a 9 year old daughter of a member. This last transfer will be good! The mission has a goal of 200 baptisms for the transfer. It’s very doable; each area needs at least 3 baptisms. We have our candidates, we just need to keep helping them progress.

I have pictures for you but this place we’re at doesn’t let me plug in my chip because these computers are super old. So I’ll try to get them to you as soon as I can... and those will be ok to post!

You're beautiful and that dessert looks like a chunk of heaven! Now that I know about the video, I'll see what we can do to get a copy of it. :) I am so glad that you get to spend the day with Hermana Hobbs. Love her so much! She is just amazing! Will she be staying in Aldo Bonzi? I've never heard of Hermana Svedin, the only one I'm aware of this transfer (I think) is Hermana Scanlon. No matter what, it's going to be good. Well, I'm glad to hear that in the end you were sad to see Hermana López (Mini me) go home. I hope I get to meet her too.

No, Hermana Jensen is not married just yet, those are the bridal photos and yes, she is beautiful. She's engaged to a guy named Derek Lowe, someone she met at BYU (that's all I know), other than the wedding is in 15 days. I know someone else who is going to be DROP-DEAD Gorgeous when her Bridal photos are taken, but I don't want that person to get trunky, so I won't say more! :)

We'll continue praying for Alberto and now for Eva too. She sounds wonderful and I'm so proud of you for teaching her.

Here i am sitting with my good ol comp Hermana LOPEZ!! woo hoo! we just found out today with transfers that we are training! AHHHH!! there are four sisters that are coming from the big USA! Estaba lloviendo y hacía frío y había postre yo estaba tratando de disfrutar. La familia Valle también tiene un video de mi con la Hermana López cantando una canción durante su última noche... es una buena canción acerca de la misión con la música de La Bamba, pero me aseguré de que no te lo enviasen a ti... ¿Por qué? ¡Porque sé que lo publicarías! Jajá.

Acabamos de terminar nuestra reunión de traslado. ¡Yo estoy entrenando de nuevo! Yo, Hermana Hobbs, Hermana Hulen y Hermana Daniels. ¡Hermana Hobbs y yo estamos juntas esta noche hasta que llegan las nuevas aquí mañana! Así que vamos a divertirnos, hemos estado recordando viejos tiempos y riéndonos bastante. Yo estaba triste de ver Hermana López irse. ¡Ella fue genial! ¡Pero vamos a llegar a visitarla cuando vengas! ¡Mi pequeña mini-mi! Jajá. Ella va a ser de gran ayuda para su familia, especialmente aquellos que no son miembros.

¡María Elisa fue confirmada el domingo! ¡Ella está muy bien! Hemos encontrado una familia, que son la familia Celeiro y son grandes! Sobre todo la hija, ella tiene 20 años, su nombre es Eva. ¡¡Ella es tan buena!! Ella vino a la iglesia el domingo y se puso un poco emocionada, ella tiene un montón de cosas difíciles en su vida. Una de las cosas es que sufre de epilepsia y por lo que tiene ataques todo el tiempo. Es muy triste porque ha estropeado la cara a causa de sus ataques, a ella le faltan los dientes delanteros, y sus ojos están en mal estado, etc. Ella toma la medicación que ayuda un poco, y recibió una bendición del sacerdocio el domingo. Después de la iglesia la llevé a la pila bautismal, allí entramos y cerramos la puerta. ¡Le dije un poco sobre el bautismo y lo que significa, a continuación, la invité a ser bautizada el 05 de febrero y ella aceptó!

Alberto no llegó el domingo. No sé qué pasó con él. Intentaremos enterarnos mañana. Tenemos unas pocas familias de más con las que estamos trabajando. También enseñamos la hija de 9 años de unos miembros. ¡Esta última transferencia será buena! La misión tiene un objetivo de 200 bautismos durante este traslado. Es muy fácil, cada área necesita por lo menos tres bautismos. Tenemos nuestros candidatos, sólo tenemos que seguir ayudando a los investigadores a progresar.

No, Hermana Jensen no está casada todavía, esas son las fotos de novia y estoy de acuerdo, ella es hermosa. Ella está comprometida con un chico que se llama Derek Lowe, alguien que ella conoció en la Universidad de Brigham Young (eso es todo lo que sé), la boda es en 15 días. Conozco a alguien que va a ser realmente hermosa cuando saquen las fotos de novia, pero no quiero que esa persona se ponga trunki, así que no voy a decir más!

Hoy hizo mucho calor, pero por la tarde refresco todo un poco luego de una lluvia, compartimos el almuerzo junto a las Hermanas. Lopez, que se va mañana.

¡Y pensar que Mike le mando una encomienda...un elástico para que haga ejercicios hicimos muchos chistes con eso!

Ella es una persona tan humilde y buena, enseña a personas que no saben leer, personas que sufren de epilepsia y todo tipo de problemas, cuando la miro puedo ver más cerca todo lo que mi hijo está pasando y sirviendo espero que este trabajando fuerte como ella!

¡Por lo pronto ya estamos contactando por conseguirle trabajo a nuestro hijo! ¡Porque no tenemos el arbolito verde que nos da dinero en euros o dólares! ¡Jajaja!

We’re excitedly waiting your arrival!

It was very hot today, but during the afternoon we cooled off a little with a rain, we shared lunch together with the Hermanas López, who is leaving tomorrow.

Here is a photo that I took of Sasha today! Hahaha! We laughed a lot! Because she ate a double portion of dessert!

And thinking that Mike sent her a package containing an elastic band to help her do exercises, so we gave her a hard time about that.

We love you so much for sending your beautiful daughter so far away to allow her to serve others!

She is such a humble and good person, she teaches people who don’t know how to read, people who suffer from epilepsy and ones that have all sorts of problems, when I look at her, I can see more clearly what my son is going through while serving and I hope that he is working as hard as she is!

In the short term we’re already looking around to see if we can find a job for our son! Because we don’t have one of those little green trees that gives us Euros or Dollars! Hahaha!

Friends! I am so happy, my heart rejoices in the thought that March will arrive soon and I’ll have my son back after fulfilling his responsibility. [He is a missionary in the Argentina Salta Mission]

(To Mom and Dad) Hey!!!

What a great week you guys had! My personal opinion... you should have bought the Wii! Like I said the first time. I told Tony in his letter, but I’ll say it again... I’m going to be using that new workout game.

Sorry I didn’t send the sol last week, I had no time we were running late for bowling... like today, no time! We rented out a tennis court for our last p-day since we don’t have zone activities anymore. Just Hermana Scott and I and our companions.

So you must feel pretty lucky because your predictions were right... I had my interview with President Benton on Thursday. I’m staying in Billinghurst (obviously) and I’m going to be training!!! Just don’t know who yet. Now you can start making those predictions. I think Hermana Lewis, Hermana Daniels and Hermana Hobbs will be training as well, but I don’t know yet. I’ll tell you on Monday.

So this week was full of surprises and miracles on this side of the hemisphere as well! We found an AMAZING guy to teach! His name is Alberto Chenone, he’s 56 and I have never seen anyone progress so fast in all my mission! He doesn’t have a job, so it gives him more time on his hands. He lives in a villa which I was explaining last time (not the best place). We taught him the Plan of Salvation. He loved it. He lost his father not too long ago and he’s just feeling horrible because they never really had a close relationship and now that he’s gone he wishes he would have settled the differences before. Anyway, we told him that there was a way he could be with him again, etc. We invited him to be baptized and he accepted. He said the prayer in the first discussion. On Sunday we passed for him to go to church, he was waiting for us outside, but he had some bad news. His sister had a heart-attack and she was in the hospital, he needed to go to the hospital instead of church because this is the 3rd time it has happened and he was scared she wasn’t going to survive. We have an FHE with him tonight so we’ll see if she’s doing ok. But anyway, before he left he asked What about the 29th? I still want to get baptized that day but I can’t go to church and I know I need to go to be able to get baptized... well obviously at that point my face was as cheesy as yours is going to be when I return home, I was smiling so big! Ha-ha. We told him we could do it the next day after church.

But wait, that’s not even the biggest miracle... Maria Elisa got baptized yesterday!!!! WOO!!!! It was quite the scare. She had her interview Friday, everything was good, she passed. Saturday we didn’t have time to go by her house but I called her that night. Her son answered the phone and said she had left. Well I just about had a heart attack... it was 9:30 at night and she wasn’t home, plus the power went out where we live so I almost blew the candle out I was breathing so hard because of the news. Very few times have I prayed as hard as I did that night. I know they say don’t use vain repetition... but I really wanted her to get baptized! And the Lord was merciful and heard my prayers... the power came back on in the morning and we also got a hold of her on the phone. She was up and ready she said she had her towel and everything! :) The baptism was great!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT! Now we can say that a famous soccer star’s grandmother is Mormon! WOO! Ha-ha.

I love the mission! These last 7 weeks are going to be the life of me... get me a wheelchair, a massage machine, and some first class tickets back home! There is no better feeling than to work hard for something and then see the results of that hard work.

How are you? That is so great about Courtni, so she’s going to be in the MTC on Wednesday? Who else is going on a mission? Did Sterling Roberts receive his call?

I had my interview with President Benton on Thursday. It was great. He didn’t talk to me much about after the mission, but he did tell me to start making a list of goals and to really plan out well my first year after returning home. I still haven’t started, but I have some ideas. He told me that I will be training during my final transfer. Dad was thinking the same thing and I knew that it was a possibility. So, another North American!

We had a baptism yesterday!!! It was so wonderful... her name is María Elisa Zabala. She is so good. She’s the one I told you about that is the Grandma of the professional soccer player, Víctor Zapata. She was so happy! It was great.

We had a baptism yesterday. Her name is Maria Elisa; she is a year older than Grandma. It was good!

Are you back in school again? Everybody here is in their summer vacation. We should have a pool built in our back yard in the States. It would be so nice!

(A Papá) ¡¡¡¡¡¡Hola!!!!!!

¡Parece que hayáis pasado una gran semana también! Mi opinión personal... ¡vosotros sabéis que yo dije que comprásemos el Wii desde el principio y por la primera vez! Como le dije a Tony en su carta, pero voy a decirlo una vez más... Voy a utilizar ese nuevo juego de entrenamiento para hacer ejercicios.

Lo siento por no haber enviado El Sol la semana pasada, ya no me quedaba más tiempo porque nos estábamos quedando tarde para hacer bowling... igual hoy, ¡no hay tiempo! Alquilamos una pista de tenis para nuestro último día de preparación dado que ya no tenemos actividades de la zona. Sólo Hermana Scott y yo y nuestras compañeras.

Así que debes sentirte con bastante suerte, porque tus predicciones tenían razón... Tuve mi entrevista con el Presidente Benton el jueves. ¡¡¡¡¡¡Él me dijo que me quedo en Billinghurst (obviamente) y voy a estar entrenando!!!!!! Simplemente no sé con quién voy a estar todavía. Ahora puedes empezar a hacer esas predicciones. Creo que Hermana Lewis, Hermana Daniels y Hermana Hobbs van a entrenar también, pero todavía no sé seguro. Os lo cuento el lunes [que viene].

¡Así que esta semana estaba llena de sorpresas y milagros desde este lado del hemisferio también! ¡Encontramos hombre asombroso para enseñar! ¡Su nombre es Alberto Chenone, él tiene 56 años y nunca he visto a nadie progresar tan rápidamente en toda mi misión como este hombre! Él no tiene un trabajo, por lo que le da más tiempo para escucharnos. Vive en una villa que yo estaba explicando la última vez por teléfono (no es el mejor lugar). De todos modos, le dijimos que había una manera que podía estar con él una vez más, etc. Le invitamos a ser bautizado y él aceptó. El mismo dio la oración en la primera charla. El domingo que pasamos por él para ir a la iglesia, estaba esperándonos a nosotras fuera, pero tuvo algunas malas noticias. Su hermana tuvo un ataque de corazón y ella estaba en el hospital, tenía que ir al hospital en lugar de la iglesia, porque esta es la tercera vez que le ha ocurrido a su hermana y tenía miedo de que ella no fuera a sobrevivir. Tenemos una Noche De Hogar con él esta noche por lo que vamos a ver si ella está mejor. Pero de todos modos, antes de irse al hospital, nos preguntó sobre la fecha del día 29; “Todavía quiero ser bautizado ese mismo día pero no puedo ir a la Iglesia hoy y sé que tengo que ir para poder ser bautizado...” Bien, evidentemente, en ese momento mi cara fue tan cursi como el tuyo va a ser cuando yo vuelva a casa. ¡Se me salió una sonrisa tan grande! Jajá. Le dijimos que podríamos hacerlo al día siguiente después de la Iglesia.

Pero esperad, que no es ni siquiera el milagro más grande... ¡¡¡María Elisa se bautizó ayer!!! ¡¡¡WOO!!! Sin embargo tuve un gran susto. Ella tuvo su entrevista el viernes, todo salió bien, lo pasó. El sábado no tuvimos tiempo para ir por su casa, pero la llamamos esa noche. Su hijo respondió al teléfono y dijo que ella se había ido. Bueno casi tuve un ataque de corazón... eran las 9:30 de la noche y que no estaba en casa, más la luz [electricidad] se quitó de nuestra casa donde vivimos y al escuchar que ella no estaba yo casi soplé la vela que teníamos encendida de la respiración tan duro que hice debido a las noticias. Muy pocas veces he orado tan duramente como lo hice esa noche. Sé que dicen no utilicemos vanas repeticiones en las oraciones... ¡pero yo realmente quería que ella se bautizara! Y el Señor fue misericordioso y escuchó mis oraciones... la electricidad volvió a la mañana y también tuvimos una conversación con ella en el teléfono. ¡Ella se levantó y estaba lista, nos dijo que ella tenía su toalla y todo lo! :) ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡El bautismo fue genial!!!!!!!! ¡ME ENCANTÓ! ¡Ahora podemos decir que la abuela de la estrella de un famoso futbolista es mormona! ¡WOO! Jajá.

¡Me encanta a la misión! Estas últimas siete semanas van a ser el final de mí... ¡Conseguid una silla de ruedas, una máquina de masaje y un billete de primera clase a casa! No hay mejor sensación que trabajar duro para algo y, a continuación, ver los resultados de ese trabajo.

WOO 2011!!!!!!!!!!! It’s actually here! I didn’t think it would ever get here either! Ha-ha. But last year was great! I loved 2010... A year I will never forget! I’m happy for this New Year as well! A lot of things happening!

I’m glad you got your itinerary! We get to go to Florida! Woo... so it will be a gradual climate change! This is good! I saw you’re flying through Dallas, that’s where Elder Rodriguez is from, the one you always talk to on the phone. I would love to sit by you on the flight back, do we get window seats? We can bother the people next to us by inviting them to church and inviting them to get baptized... I’m sure we can convince them in 14 hours! :)

How is Hermana Godfrey?! You’re so lucky you got to talk to her!!! She’s awesome! She is supposed to DearElder me. I’m waiting! Ha-ha I’m glad she made it back safe. How was her Christmas? Is she back at school?

Yeah, well I didn’t say anything to Lourdes or her husband; they invited you on their own! Look at that! Aren’t they just amazing??? I love them!!!! We sat down last night and made plans and goals for 2011! Ha-ha it was fun! Oh, and you can tell mom, Hermana Scott and I are definitely going to live together! We’ve been talking about it a lot... it’s going to be fuuuuuun!

I’ll talk to Lorenzo, I’m sure he’ll be all for going to get you! The first person you’ll get to meet in Argentina is one of my converts! Lucky you!

Why was Mike sick? Is he better? That’s not good, right before school starts! And it’s even colder in Idaho! I’ll send some of this heat up that way!

Pedro is doing great... he accepted a baptismal date but he couldn’t get off work yet. Hopefully this next Sunday. Maria Elisa is supposed to get baptized on Saturday. She needed one more assistance! She didn’t come because her family came to get her and they took her out of town for the parties. :( They didn’t bring her back in time for church. But hopefully with special permission we can baptize her anyway; if not... we will wait until the next week. Antonella (9-year-old) came to church. So did a new investigator we have named Jorge. He’s good! He is half black... hippie. Ha-ha. He’s got the dreadlocks going on and he plays his guitar and smokes. He loves Bob Marley. Ha-ha. He’s so cool! He’s all about peace and love. So we’ve been teaching him, he came to church and he has a baptismal date for January 16. We have to teach him the word of wisdom so he can start quitting; we have a Family Home Evening with him tonight.

Our ward now has sacrament meeting first. I don’t like it because it’s harder to get people to church earlier... but I know the Lord will help us! When I was with Hermana Godfrey we had sacrament meeting first thing in the morning and we averaged about 15 investigators at church on Sunday for about a month and a half. So... anything is possible.

That’s great that you had company on Christmas. What did you play? I was going to start my diet today, but I think next Monday will be better. Ha-ha. Yes, I blew it! Oh well! But we’re going bowling, so maybe I’ll lose some just the same.

Last night Hermana Valle printed off some months of the 2011 calendar so that I could start to set some goals. Ha-ha. And well... she helped me... I’ve got them all done! :) Now I know what we’re going to do when Dad gets here, I know what I’m going to do when I return, when I go to school, when I graduate and also when I’m getting married... and when I’m going to Spain. Ha-ha. 2011 is going to be so great! Therefore, if you want the details, ask Hermana Valle because if I write it here I know that Dad will publish all of it!

New Year’s was gggrrrreeeaaattt!!! We celebrated as much as we could. 2010 was so wonderful... I saw many miracles and it really was the best year of my life. I know that 2011 is going to be just as amazing or better! Many important decisions to make... with my career, school, future, family, etc.

Hermana Scott and I cooked today. She spilled grease all over me... then she tried to fix it with some Shaklee stuff. Ha-ha it was funny! We completely burned the hamburgers and the hot dogs. Oops! If my cooking skills don’t kill Mike our first year together I may have the chance to have posterity! :) I just don’t know! Did you ever see the movie Charlie? ...I cook like her! Or worse!

Pedro está muy bien... aceptó una fecha de bautismo, pero no podía salir del trabajo todavía. Esperemos que este próximo domingo pueda salir. María Elisa se va a bautizar el sábado. ¡Ella necesitaba una mayor asistencia! Ella no vino porque su familia vino a buscarla y la llevaron fuera de la ciudad para las fiestas. : ( No la trajeron de vuelta a tiempo para ir a la iglesia, pero esperemos que con un permiso especial que se puede bautizar a ella de todos modos, si no... vamos a esperar hasta la semana próxima. Antonio (9 años) vino a la iglesia... Así también vino un investigador nuevo que se llama Jorge. ¡Él es bueno! Él es mitad negro... hippie. Jajá. Él tiene las rastas en el pelo y él toca la guitarra y fuma. Le encanta Bob Marley. Jaja. ¡Es tan bueno él es todo acerca de la paz y el amor. Así que hemos estado enseñándole, llegó a la iglesia y tiene una fecha de bautismo de 16 de enero. Tenemos que enseñarle la palabra de sabiduría para que pueda empezar a dejar de fumar; tenemos una Noche de Hogar con él esta noche.

Nuestro barrio ahora tiene la reunión sacramental en primer lugar. No me gusta porque es más difícil hacer que la gente llegue a la iglesia a una hora temprano... ¡pero sé que el Señor nos ayudará! Cuando estaba con la Hermana Godfrey teníamos la reunión sacramental primera en la mañana y venían un promedio de cerca de 15 investigadores en la iglesia el domingo por un mes y medio. Así que... todo es posible.

El año nuevo fue buenisisisissiiiimo!!!! Estuvimos celebrando a full! 2010 fue tan bueno... pude ver muchos milagros y realmente fue el mejor año que he tenido en mi vida. Y sé que 2011 va a ser igual de bueno o mejor! Muchas decisiones importantes para tomar... con la carrera, la escuela, el futuro, la familia, etc.

Yeah, it was obvious that you had lost weight, especially since the last picture (and only) I have of you is at the airport when I was leaving. Mom, I couldn’t tell so much, but I believe it, I’m sure she’s lost a lot. Grandma told me she has. I’m proud of you both! I’m losing weight too! I don’t even have to try... the weather does it for me!

Yeah, I hope you don’t embarrass me too bad either! Ha-ha. Lucky for you, unlike most parents you can actually understand what is going on. I’m glad I won’t have to translate for you. Yes, María is Roxana’s mother. We are now working with Pedro, María’s son. He is way good but he works on weekends. He has been talking to his boss to see if he can get weekends off. So we will see!

I have no clue about the new Hermana’s names, especially their first names. I think Hermana Claros is Estefany. Hermana Alvarado starts with an M, but I don’t know. I think its Claudia Terrazas. Sorry, I don’t usually go around asking people’s first names! Ha-ha.

Well... why would Mike only stay the weekend? That’s dumb! That’s almost not worth it! I thought he was going to talk to his teachers, explain to them that he was going to be gone a week and then be in Missouri for at least a week. As far as I remember we were allowed to miss class at least 3 times before it affected our grade, so unless he has a class where he has to go every single day he shouldn’t have a problem being in MO for a week. Either way, when he comes he will still be in school. I’d rather him not come at all if it’s just for the weekend, he can save up that money for the ring! Or for the honeymoon! We have to be smart about this!

Tell Aaron and Rita thanks for the Christmas present!!! I will put it to good use... just like the sleeping bag... I used that thing so much! Up until about a week ago... now it’s bloody hot!

Christmas was great! We enjoyed our time with the López family!!! Her father went to church for the first time to see a baptism, it was great, he got teary eyed! I think he’s gonna be getting in the water next!!!! No I had never been there because Moreno doesn’t have any Hermanas. After the baptism her family invited us over to eat. We didn’t have much time because we had to get back for our baptism, but it was fun... then, we didn’t even have our baptism! Hah, Cecilia disappeared! I think she got scared, I don’t know. It’s all right; we’re still working hard... not getting discouraged that nobody wanted to get baptized on Christmas!

[Dad] Beautiful girl, Mike is still going to be in school and he shouldn’t miss the classes, he needs to graduate and not waste the money he has invested in the University. He won’t be able to come for more than one weekend. He really wants to see you, but it would be better during your second weekend – and besides being together an entire week could prove to be a little… umm… dangerous. ;-) I will do all I can to keep from embarrassing you when I go to Argentina. Is there a problem with the plane ticket or were you just curious about what I bought? Photos? :-)

(To Mom) Hello!!!!

How are you? It really was great to be able to speak with you! And yes, it is very humid here, like Missouri, so the heat feels worse. I sweat constantly. Tomorrow I have to go to Buenos Aires capital to do some paperwork for my identity card because it’s about to expire. So, it should be fun, something a little out of the ordinary.

That is rough for Tony! I didn’t have any problems! Only the drugs… I was addicted for a few days. Ha-ha. Aaron and Rita wrote me; it seems that they had a good Christmas. How is Brittany doing? Why are you buying Tony animal costumes? They say there is a very large park called Japanese Park and that every year they have a large Anime Convention here in the capital and there are always many people (including adults) wearing costumes.

I told you that we needed to transfer my credits in mathematics back in September 2009!!!!!! I thought that you had already done so... There is usually a time limit and I think that it may have already passed! You should find out as soon as possible!

I don't know if I can live with Hermana Scott... well, yes, live with her, but I don't know if we are going to be able to share a room, I think that her best friend will also be at BYU-I and I'm almost sure that she is going to want to room with her. I think her cousin will also be there. I don’t know for sure, tomorrow I am going to see her and I can ask.

When do you think that I will have time to work?

No matter who my last companion might be, I am going to give everything! I will help any Hermana that is assigned to me; it doesn’t matter if she is someone that has already been here in the mission or if she’s new. I made a promise to serve the Lord during the entire time that I am here and I will do it. If my feet are in Argentina, then I will be a missionary... even when Dad comes I will keep inviting people to the Church.

This Christmas was very special. Well... our baptism fell through... the woman disappeared and we have not seen her since. But the good news is that we could be with Gaby’s family and her father went to church for the first time to see the baptism [of Hermana López’s sister-in-law]. He got emotional. It was so good. And when we had to leave, he didn’t want us to go. I believe that [Hermana López’s] mini mission is affecting him in a good way, and perhaps it’s his time to listen to the discussions.

Sounds like you were happy this year for Christmas. What did Santa Claus bring you? I got the package from mom and dad; I’m still waiting for Mike’s. Then the [Valle] family I live with gave us a bunch of food. My friends gave me bath stuff, a picture frame thing, bracelets, and some more chocolate. My companion gave me a stuffed animal. I got her a little candy thing that poops out jelly beans, and some stuff from mom and dad’s package. It was good, we had fun.

It’s so hot here, I’m always sweating!!!

Nieve was so cute on Christmas! I miss her!!!! Are you taking good care of her? Don’t dress her up like a cat!

En Mamá, no podía verlo tanto, pero creo que es cierto, estoy seguro de que ella haya perdido mucho. Grandma me dijo que ella lo había hecho. ¡Me siento orgullosa de ambos! ¡Estoy perdiendo peso también! ¡No tengo ni que intentar... las condiciones meteorológicas lo hace para mí!

No tengo ninguna pista acerca nombres de las Hermanas nuevas, especialmente sus nombres de pila. Creo que Hermana Claros se llama Estefany. Hermana Alvarado comienza con una M, pero no sé. Pensé que iba a hablar con sus maestros, explicarles que iba a estar fuera por una semana y estar en Missouri durante al menos una semana. En cuanto al respecto, recuerdo que nos permitían faltar a las clases al menos 3 veces antes de que afectara nuestra nota, por lo que a menos que él tenga una clase donde tiene que ir cada día él no debería tener un problema de estar en Missouri durante una semana. Como sea él va a estar en la escuela. ¡Mejor que no venga si solamente se puede quedar un fin de semana, él puede guardar ese dinero para el anillo! ¡O para la Luna de miel! ¡Tenemos que ser inteligentes sobre esto!

¿Cómo estás? ¡De verdad fue buenísimo poder hablar con vosotros! Y si, aquí hace mucha humedad, como Missouri, así que el calor se siente peor. Sudo constantemente. Mañana tengo que ir a capital para hacer algunos trámites más para mi dni porque el coso se vence. Así que, debe ser divertido, algo un poco fuera de lo normal.

Que mal lo de Tony. ¡Yo no tuve ningún problema! Solo las drogas... fui drogadicta por algunos días. Jajá Aaron y Rita me escribieron, parece que tuvieron una buena navidad. Como anda Brittany? Porque le estas comprando ropa de animal a Tony? Dicen que aquí en capital hay un parque muy grande que se llama el parque japonés y que cada año tienen una convención de esas de anime y van muchas personas (incluso adultos) disfrazados.

¡No importa quién sea mi última compañera, yo voy a dar todo! Voy a ayudar a cualquier hermana que me toque, si es acá de la misión o si es nueva. Yo hice una promesa de servir al señor durante todo el tiempo que estoy acá y lo voy a hacer. Si mis pies están en Argentina, soy misionera... incluso cuando papa venga voy a seguir invitando a las personas a la iglesia.

Esta navidad fue muy especial. Bueno... nuestro bautismo se cayó... la mujer desapareció y no la hemos visto más. Pero lo bueno es que pudimos estar con la familia de Gaby y su padre fue a la iglesia por la primera vez para ver el bautismo. Él se emocionó. Fue tan bueno. Y cuando tuvimos que irnos el no quería. Creo que la mini misión de ella le está afectando mucho a él, y quizás sea su tiempo para escuchar las charlas.

Suena como hayas pasado unas Navidades muy felices este año. ¿Qué te trajo Santa Claus?

He recibido el paquete de mamá y papá; todavía estoy esperando él de Mike. A continuación, la familia [Valle] con quien vivo nos dio un montón de alimentos. Mis amigos me dieron cosas de baño, un cuadro para fotos, brazaletes y más chocolate. Mi compañera me dio un animal de peluche. The little Christmas tree that decorates the Zimmerman-López home this Christmas season, but the best gift wasn't to be found under the tree this year, but in the opportunity to talk with our daughter, Sasha, as she continues her missionary service in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission.

El árbol de Navidad pequeñito que está en la casa de los Zimmerman-López durante esta temporada de Navidad, sin embargo el mejor regalo de esta año no se encontraba debajo del árbol, sino en la oportunidad que tuvimos a hablar con nuestra hija, Sasha, mientras que ella continue su servicio misional en la misión de Argentina Buenos Aires Oeste.

[Editor's Note; On December 24, 2010, we really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to Sasha during our annual Christmas phone call. In addition to being able to talk to her, thanks to the Valle family of Billinghurst and their willingness to allow Sasha to use their computer, we were blessed with the ability to see her beautiful face via Skype, an online video conferencing service that allows participants with web cameras to view each other during the conversation. Below are our favorite screen snapshots and quotes from our conversation with her.]

Very beginning of the call, in addition to speaking with Sasha, we had the pleasure of being able to also briefly speak with three other Sister missionaries; her current companion, Hermana Gabriela López (left), as well as Hermana Alvarado (right) and Hermana McKayla Scott (below) who are serving in the same Oeste Zone.

Hermana McKayla Scott and Hermana Sasha López. We not only had the opportunity to hear Hermana Scott speaking Spanish, but we felt very blessed to hear her briefly sing the hymn; "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" in English, she is an extremely talented singer and we're thrilled to know that both of them are talking about possibly sharing a dorm room when they return to BYU-Idaho.

No tan solo tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar a la Hermana Scott hablar en español, sino nos sentimos muy bendecidos a escucharla cantar brevemente el himno; "Sé Que Mi Rendentor Vive" en inglés, ella es una cantante muy talentosa y nos dio mucha alegría escuchar a las dos decir que tal vez vayan a vivir en el mismo piso cuando regresen a la universidad de BYU-Idaho.

Sasha intentionally teasing her mother by speaking Spanish with a think Argentine accent. Paqui said that she was going to have to ship her back over to Spain to learn how to talk again. [Editor's note; Dear, that may be Sasha's ulterior motive. :) ]

Aquí Sasha estaba intencionalmente hablando en español con un acento Argentino fuerte. Paqui le dijo que iba a tener que enviarla otra vez a España para poder aprender a hablar otra vez. [Nota del Editor; Cariño, éso tal vez sea el propósito diabólico de Sasha. :) ]

We used the webcam on the laptop to show Sasha the snow that had fallen on Missouri and how cold it was outside. She pulled up her sleeve to show us her tan line.

Nosotros utilizamos la cámara en el laptop para mostrarle a Sasha la nieve que se había caido sobre Missouri y como hacía mucho frio afuera. Ella subio la manga para mostrarnos lo morena que está.

Sasha got most excited when she saw the family member that she apparently misses the most... her dog, Nieve.

Sasha mostró el más ánimo cuando vio al miembro de la familia que ella echa de menos más que ninguno... su perro, Nieve.

As pointed out by her mother, Paqui, for some unknown reason, Sasha's eyebrows looked particularly dark on the webcam and Sasha's brother, Tony, also reminded her of the time that she nearly completely (and accidentally) removed her eyebrows and she replied; "No! Look! I have eyebrows!!"

Notado primeramente por su madre, Paqui, por alguna razón las cejas de Sasha parecían particularmente oscuras en la cámara web y además el hermano de Sasha, Tony, le hizo recordar que una vez a ella (por accidente) casi se le quitaron las cejas completamente y aquí ella le respondió; "¡No! ¡Mira! ¡¡Yo tengo cejas!!"

When Paqui stood up to show Sasha that she has recently lost 30 pounds, Sasha looked and replied; "I've only lost two!"

Paqui se puso de pie para mostrarle a Sasha que ella recientemente había perdido unos 14 kilos, Sasha le miró y le respondió; "¡Pues, yo solamente he perdido un kilo!"

Towards the end of our call Sasha was a little more solemn as she talked about the end of her mission approaching and how she's torn between a desire to stay and serve longer and a desire to get back home. She spoke about the fact that her back hurts and her feet are sore.

Wow, I can’t believe a whole year has gone by! SO FAST! Our Christmas P-day was great!!! It was Hermana Godfrey’s last day; she left a few weeks early to get back in time for school. So we got to say bye to her. She should be getting home today at some time. She has a ton of pictures of me to post on Facebook I’m sure. We sang a lot of songs, we saw the Christmas devotional, ate a big asado, had a Christmas gift exchange. I got scissors. Ha-ha. But the funniest gift was the one that my hija [daughter, trainee], Hermana Clark made. You know how she’s still in Luján? Well the big thing there is the Virgen de Luján. She found a picture frame and in the middle of it was the Virgin, so what she did was cut out a picture of me, and pasted it on there, then changed the name to the Virgen López! hahahaha I took pictures of it, an Elder got it... He’s a Zone Leader in Luján. I tried to trade him my scissors but he didn’t want to, so he kept the picture.

I’m glad you guys are getting to know the Valle family. They are amazing!!!! They bought us ice-cream the other night. They also brought us some pan dulce [sweet bread] last night. They are so good to us!!! I love that family! They always help us out with our baptisms too, especially since Noelia is the only one in the Branch that knows how to play the piano, and we don’t have one of the fancy ones that plays itself! Nestor is funny, he always makes trunky jokes. Hermana Lewis didn’t like it, but it doesn’t bother me.

So you got pictures of Hermana López and I? Good thing, because I don’t know how many I have of us! Oops! The Christmas P-day was basically all of us old ones together. She’s really good friends with Hermana Alvarado. So they were together almost the whole time. I’m glad because she would have been bored with Hermana Daniels, Lewis, Scott and I.

On the 24th we are going to go sing at a nursing home. It’s going to be fun. A bunch of people invited us over to hangout and eat with them. I still have to figure it all out because there’s a lot! I wrote to mom about us talking [on our Christmas phone call].

(To Mom) Hello!!!!

Sorry that I wasn’t able to write yesterday! We had our mission Christmas activity! I was so great! We saw the First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional, we sang a lot, we had asado and salad to eat. The Benton’s love the gift that you made them! How did you do it? Did you make it? And what about the one with Mike and I on it? Ha-ha! Well, the truth is that I couldn’t see all of the things in the package because I received it yesterday and we were so busy, today I can look at it more calmly.

That is so great that you’ll be able to stay with Silvia while she recovers. How is Dad after his operation? Tell Tony that the operation didn’t hurt me at all. They really put me to sleep, but bad!!! They drugged me and it worked! Ha-ha. Just my face was swollen and I knew I was bleeding. He just really needs to take care of his mouth afterwards, a lot of soup and that type of food, nothing he has to chew!

Yes, I think Skype would be fabulous!!! It’s better that way because we can see each other and it’s totally free!!! And yes, everything depends upon how our baptism goes, we have one planned, but I don’t know… we’re going to see her today to make sure everything is okay. If, in the end, she doesn’t get baptized, we can talk on Christmas night around 7 or 8. But if she does get baptized, it would be better to talk on Christmas Eve. We have permission to be out until 10 or 10:30 that night so we could do it when you want. At 8:30 or 9. It doesn’t matter I will let Hermana Valle know and she can let you know when it will be.

The Oeste Zone at the Christmas Devotional

*[Excerpts from a letter from Hermana Ellis Clark] Sent on Tuesday, December 21, 2010:

Dear Mom and Dad,

Yesterday we had a special p-day activity with the whole mission in Ramos Mejía. President and Hermana Benton gave talks and different missionaries and zones in the mission performed musical numbers. There was a nice mix of serious Christmas hymns and more secular Christmas songs. Afterwards we ate a really good asado, potato salad with carrots in it, and fruit salad for dessert. There was a [white elephant] gift exchange too. For the gift I brought, I cut out a picture of Hermana Lopez and drew a halo around her like the Virgin of Lujan, then pasted that over a picture of the basilica. Then at the bottom of the picture I pasted a prayer I made up to "Nuestra Señora, la Hermana Lopez" pleading for more baptisms [It read; “Prayer to our Lady Hermana López.” “Beloved Mother, guide us always in your ways and bless us with lots of baptisms, amen.”] I put the whole deal in a very tacky shiny silver frame that had dolphins on it. As soon as it was opened, a flock of missionaries gathered around to see it and everyone laughed. Hermana Lopez thought it was hilarious and took several pictures of it (the elder who received it liked it too much to trade it too her). The Virgin of Luján is infamous in our mission, because so many people believe in her and the other missionaries get frustrated trying to explain how we should only worship God. So that explains why everyone thought it was so funny, in case you didn’t get it.

¡Guao, no me puedo creer que haya pasado un año entero! ¡TAN RÁPIDO! ¡¡¡¡¡¡Nuestro P-day de Navidad fue genial!!!!!! Fue el último día que la Hermana Godfrey estuvo en la misión; ella salió un par de semanas temprano para volver a tiempo para la escuela, pero así pudimos decirle adiós. Ella debe estar regresada hoy en algún momento [martes, 21 diciembre]. Ella tiene una tonelada de fotos de mí para tal vez compartir en Facebook, estoy segura. Cantamos un montón de canciones, vimos la devocional de la Primera Presidencia de la Navidad, comimos un gran asado, y celebramos un intercambio de regalos de Navidad. Obtuve tijeras. Jajá. Bueno, si vieran, el regalo más divertido fue uno que hizo mi hija, la Hermana Clark [Sasha era su primera compañera en la misión, o sea su entrenadora que muchas veces llaman su “madre”]. ¿Sabéis que ella todavía está en Luján? Desde luego, uno de las cosas más grandes de Luján es la Virgen de Luján. ¡Ella encontró un marco de fotografía y en el centro del marco fue una foto de la Virgen de Luján! ¡Lo que ella hizo fue recortar una imagen de mí y lo pegó encima, entonces cambió el nombre a la Virgen López! Jajajaja. Hice fotografías del marco, pero el regalo le tocó a un Elder... Él es un líder de la Zona de Luján. Traté de cambiarle mis tijeras, pero él no quería, y se quedó con la foto.

Me alegro que pudierais conocer a la familia Valle. ¡Ellos son increíbles! Nos compraron helados la otra noche. [Por otra parte, la Hermana Valle nos dijo; “¡Y Sasha muere por el helado argentino! :)] Ellos también nos trajeron pan dulce anoche. ¡¡¡¡¡¡Ellos son tan buenos con nosotras!!!!!! ¡Me encanta a esa familia! ¡Siempre nos ayudan con nuestros bautismos también, especialmente ya que Noelia es la única en la Rama que sabe cómo tocar el piano, y no tenemos uno de los pianos elegantes que toca la música solo! Néstor es tan gracioso, siempre hace bromas sobre el final de la misión. A la Hermana Lewis no le gustaba eso mucho, pero a mí, no me molesta.

¿Entonces ya tienes fotos de la Hermana López y yo juntas? ¡Es bueno, porque no sé cuántos yo tengo de nosotras! ¡Ups! En la fiesta de Navidad de la misión, básicamente estuvimos juntas todas nosotras las antiguas misioneras. Ella es realmente una buena amiga con la Hermana Alvarado, por lo tanto ellas estaban juntas casi todo el tiempo. Me alegro porque tal vez ella se hubiera aburrida mucho con las Hermanas Daniels, Lewis, Scott y yo.

¡Perdón que no pude escribir ayer! Tuvimos la actividad con la misión de navidad! Estuvo re buena. Vimos el devocional de la navidad, muchos cantaron, tuvimos asado y ensalada para comer. ¡A los Benton les ENCANTO el regalo que les hiciste! ¿Cómo lo hizo? ¿Vos lo hiciste? ¿Y el de Mike y yo? ¿Dónde está? Jajá. Bueno, la verdad es que no pude ver todas las cosas porque tuve un día muy ocupado ayer, pero ya hoy lo voy a ver más tranquila.

Jajá. Solo que mi cara estaba mucho más grande y sabía que estaba sangrando. ¡Tiene que cuidarse mucho la boca después, mucha sopa y esas cosas, nada masticable!

¡¡¡Sí creo que estaría buenísimo lo de Skype!!! ¡¡¡Es mejor así nos vemos y es completamente gratis!!! Y sí, todo depende de cómo va nuestro bautismo, tenemos uno planeado pero la verdad no sé... vamos a verle a ella hoy para asegurarnos que todo está bien. Si al final no se bautiza podemos hablar en la navidad a la noche como a las 7 o 8. Pero si se bautiza, estaría bueno hablar la noche del 24. Tenemos permiso de estar fuera hasta las 10 - 10:30 así que podríamos hacerlo cuando quieran. A las 8:30 o 9. Igual, yo le comunico a la Hermana Valle y así ella le dice bien.

La Zona Oeste en la fiesta Navideña

*[Extractos de una carta de la Hermana Ellis Clark] Mensaje enviado el martes, 21 diciembre 10:

Queridos padres,

Ayer tuvimos una actividad especial de P-day con toda la misión en Ramos Mejía. Presidente y Hermana Benton dieron charlas y los misioneros de las diferentes zonas en la misión cantaron números musicales. Hubo una buena mezcla de himnos de Navidad y canciones de Navidad más seculares. Después comimos un buen asado, ensalada de patata con zanahorias en ella y ensalada de frutas para el postre. Hubo un intercambio de regalos de “elefante blanco” muy divertido también. Por el regalo que yo traje, recorté una fotografía de Hermana López y le hice un halo alrededor de ella como lo hacen con la Virgen de Luján, a continuación, pegué el imagen encima de una fotografía de la Basílica de Luján. Entonces, en la parte inferior de todo puse una oración que yo compuse a "Nuestra Señora, la Hermana López" rogándole por más bautismos. [Ella escribió; “Oración a Nuestra Señora la Hermana López.” “Amada Madre, guíanos siempre en tu camino y bendícenos con muchos bautismos. Amen.”] Puse todo el trato en un marco de plateado brillante muy impresentable que tenía delfines en él. Tan pronto como se abrió, una bandada de misioneros se reunieron en torno a verlo y todo el mundo se rió. Hermana López pensó que era súper gracioso y tomó varias fotos de él (el Elder quien lo recibió le gustó demasiado para cambiarlo con la Hermana López). La Virgen de Luján es muy famosa en nuestra misión, porque hay tantas personas que creen en ella y los otros misioneros se frustran mucho tratando de explicar cómo tan sólo deberíamos alabar a Dios. Es por eso que todos pensaban que era tan gracioso y lo explico por si acaso no lo entendiesen.

¡Gabriela [Hermana López] es una jovencita maravillosa, solo tiene 19 años y es un ejemplo de servicio, creo que solo va a estar hasta el 17 enero, pero de todos modos aceptar una mini misión en estas fechas ya es un acto de valentía, porque pasa las 2 fiestas lejos de su familia! ¡Su madre es miembro, pero no así su padre, pero ya tiene su galardón y el próximo 25 diciembre se bautiza su cuñada

Estamos en contacto constante, Sasha es maravillosa muy disciplinada, nunca se queja por nada, como la quiero mucho la consiento bastante... pero de buena manera y el viernes pasado con la excusa de un servicio ¡jejeje! ¡Les prepare un desayuno especial y miramos Charly! una película de la iglesia y todas lloramos jajaja, también mi hija Noelia y la abu Nil! Como la cena empezaba a partir de las 20:30 horas pidieron permiso para poder participar y yo las traje hasta la pensión junta con la Presidenta de la Sociedad de Socorro como a las 22:30 porque nos demoramos un poquito con el helado que no llegaba... jeje! ¡Y Sasha muere por el helado argentino! Después... ¡como siempre queda comida me traje un montón para ellas!

[Paqui la contestó primera] Sinceramente sería maravilloso el poder verla con Skype si pudiéramos hacerlo. Mañana leeremos la carta de ella y tal vez ella nos puede decir que es lo que quiere hacer, cada misión tiene reglas diferentes. ¿Saben a qué hora van a hablar con su hijo para que si Sasha toma su invitación lo podamos hacer a una hora diferente? Lourdes muchas gracias por su amabilidad de ofrecernos sus recursos. Lourdes dinos si sabes a qué hora van a hablar con su hijo el día de la Navidad para ver si Sasha quiere que hagamos Skype quedar a una hora diferente ese día. Muchas gracias.

[Entonces por otra parte Shaun le contestó] ¡Ay Lourdes! Este mensaje y las fotos son realmente un milagro para nosotros. ¡MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS! Otro milagro que nos muestra el amor de Nuestro Padre Celestial a través de vosotros. Gracias a vuestros actos hacía nuestra hija y su compañera, sabemos que Nuestro Padre Celestial las ama y las cuida por poner personas tan buenas en sus vidas y así también sois una gran bendición en nuestras vidas. No sabemos el efecto que nuestros actos pueden tener en las vidas de otras personas cuando hacemos lo correcto (o incorrecto también). Nos encantan las historias y las fotos y las vamos a añadir entre sus recuerdos. No tengo la menor duda que ella se va a recordar de vosotros por toda la eternidad, ni nosotros tampoco nos vamos a olvidar de vosotros.

¿Skype? ¿Tenéis Skype? ¡Maravilloso! Nosotros también y esperábamos poder hacer Skype el año pasado con Sasha, pero nadie en su área tenía una computadora. Si no os importa, debemos intentarlo juntos antes que llegue el día para asegurar que todo funcione bien. Y así además nos mantenemos en contacto aun después que ella termine la misión.

Sí que lo habéis pasado bien en la fiesta del fin del año, ¡Qué bien! Aquí, hoy [domingo], celebraron un Programa de Navidad en la reunión sacramental en el barrio de habla inglesa. Era interesante, creo que en un momento u otro TODAS las familias, menos la nuestra, se pusieron a cantar una canción Navideña delante de todos. ¡JA! Pero no había nadie cantando desde detrás de un pizarrón. ¡Qué lindo!

Yo solo quiero facilitar la cuestión para Sasha que estará fuera de la casa el 25 diciembre desde muy temprano y ¡hay bautismos por la tarde también! (To Dad) Yaaaay! I’m glad you received your Christmas present already! That was fast... too bad it’s not as fast getting to ME!

This week was good... my new companion and I - Ha-ha - You’ve been waiting all week have you? Well... she’s not Hermana Tucker and she’s not from the [Buenos Aires] MTC either... she’s a mini missionary! [Editor's Note: In this case, a "mini-missionary" is a special assignment that they give to a regular member from the Buenos Aires area. She is a young, single female, adult member, that has been called and set apart by the Stake President and she will serve with Sasha, full-time for a period of six weeks, then return to her 'normal' life. No, it does not mean what Tony, Sasha's younger brother, initially thought; that the girl is especially small or tiny. :) Whenever there is an odd number of full-time Sister missionaries, many times they will call one or more "mini-missionaries" instead of creating a cumbersome threesome of full-time missionaries since all missionaries must travel in a companionship, never alone. It is a wonderful opportunity for the member to experience first hand what it is really like to serve a mission. This represents the first time that Sasha has had a "mini-missionary" assigned to work with her.] She is 19 and is planning on serving a mission in 2 years from now. She is from Moreno. Ok, here’s the absolute best part... Her name is... HERMANA LOPEZ!!! Like me!!! hahaha :) We are the Hermanas Lopez! Crazy huh? So she is going to be with me for 6 weeks, I will be staying and dying [finishing the mission] in Billinghurst.

Hopefully your surgery goes well and you recover.

As for [identifying people in] the photos... in photo 3 it’s Lourdes Valle with her husband Nestor Valle, and Leo [Signorello]’s stepfather named Hermano Gallina. In photo 2 it’s Hermano Claudio Le Pera, he is my branch mission leader and his son is on a mission right now as well. And Photo 1 is Daniel Gómez; he’s the young men’s president and got baptized a year ago with Elder Brooks. He is amazing!!!! We have lunch at his house on Sunday’s after church... his brother’s cooked us some good Argentine ASADO! I will attach a picture!

This week was good, we worked really hard, and we did some bus contacts. She was scared at first but then loved it after we did it. We were planning on having 8 investigators at church, only 2 showed up! So we will probably only have 1 or 2 baptisms on Christmas... but for the new year we could have 3 or 4, so that’s good!

One of our investigators, María Elisa, is the grandma of a really famous soccer star here in Argentina! Ha-ha. His team is in the finals this year, he plays for Vélez Sársfield in Liniers, and his name is Víctor Zapata. So I thought that was pretty cool. She’s awesome, we found her when she was walking home with a bunch of groceries, too many for her to carry. So Hermana Lewis and I helped her carry them home, then we taught her and now her family is listening. She has 14 children, only one of them live with her, but the others are usually visiting.

For Christmas we get to go to Moreno because my companion’s (ex) sister in law is getting baptized!!! But she won’t get baptized unless my companion is there, so we get to take a little trip, she’ll probably get to see her family as well! Lucky! Ha-ha. But yeah, she’s super excited!

I’m with Hermana Scott and her companion [Hermana Alvarado], we are all going to go play soccer in a bit! So I love you! Have a great week! I’ll pray for the surgery!

(To Mom) Hello!!!

Ha! Did you really make dulce de leche? You need to have a lot of patience to be able to do that and it takes a long time! [Yes, Sasha, Paqui did make some, it took over 3 hours, and it turned out great!] How much did you make? I was going to bring a little back with me, but they say that home-made is better. And what did the missionaries say about the dulce de leche?

It’s snowing there and here there is a suffocating heat!!! But yes, it is weird to have Christmas in summer.

The sister-in-law of my companion is going to get baptized on the 25th of December and President Benton has given us permission to go watch it. She lives about an hour from where we are. She is a mini-missionary! I never had the chance to do that, but I have a companion who did! And the best part is her name; Hermana López!!! Just like me! Hahahaha. Therefore you know she has to be the best!

Poor abuela... and well, in August I can go visit her! :) I just hope she remembers me!

Can they take out Tony’s wisdom teeth while he has braces?! Isn’t that dangerous? Poor little guy, he won’t be able to eat hardly anything at Christmas!

Yes, there are a lot of families here that have Internet... we live with one of those families... The Valle family! They are so great! Their names are Lourdes and Nestor Valle. There’s also the Berini family... Alejandra Porewbski, she is the Relief Society President. I don’t know, there a bunch of them! Gonzalo Cortese is the husband of the daughter of Sister Valle (Noelia Valle) and he’s also a counselor in the [Billinghurst] Branch Presidency.

Today we got to be with Hermana Scott and Hermana Alvarado en Ramos [Mejía]. It was so much fun, we get to see them on our Preparation Day. I think we’re going to play soccer here in a little while.

(A Papá) ¡Yaaaay! ¡Me alegro que hayas recibido el regalo de Navidad ya! Eso fue rápido... ¡Qué lástima que no es tan rápido para llegar a mí!

Esta semana fue buena... mi compañera nueva y yo - Jajá - has estado esperando toda la semana, ¿verdad? Bueno... ella no es la Hermana Tucker y ella no es del CCM [de Buenos Aires]... ¡ella es una mini misionera! [Nota del editor: En este caso, una "mini-misionera" es una asignación especial que le dan a un miembro regular de la zona de Buenos Aires. Ella es una mujer joven, soltera, miembro adulto, que ha sido llamada y apartada por el Presidente de la Estaca y ella servirá con Sasha, a tiempo completo por un período de seis semanas, a continuación, volverá a su vida "normal". No, eso no quiere decir lo que Tony, el hermano menor de Sasha, pensaba inicialmente, que la chica es enana o pequeña. :) Siempre que haya un número impar de las misioneras hermanas de tiempo completo, muchas veces llaman a una o más de las "mini-misioneras" en lugar de crear un trío engorroso de las misioneras de tiempo completo ya que todas las misioneras deben viajar en un compañerismo, y nunca estar a solas. Es una oportunidad maravillosa para que el miembro pueda experimentar de primera mano lo que es realmente servir en una misión. Esto representa la primera vez que Sasha ha tenido una "mini-misionera" asignada a trabajar con ella.] Ella tiene 19 años y está pensando en servir en una misión dentro de dos años. Ella es de Moreno. Ok, aquí está la parte más favorable... Su nombre es... ¡HERMANA LOPEZ! ¡Igual que yo! Jajaja :) ¡Nosotras somos las Hermanas López! Loco ¿no? Así que ella va a estar conmigo durante 6 semanas, y voy a permanecer y morir [o sea terminar la misión] en Billinghurst.

Esperemos que la cirugía salga bien y te recuperes.

El 7 de diciembre de 2.010, una foto del grupo entero de todos los refuerzos y los entrenadores que llegaron a la misión de Buenos Aires Oeste. Tan solo podemos identificar algunas personas en la fila del medio, desde la izquierda; Hermana Hulen, Hermana Terrazas, Hermana Duarte, pareja nueva, Hermana and President Benton, otra pareja nueva, Hermana Sasha López, Hermana Gabriela López (la nueva compañera de Sasha), y Hermana Tucker.

Esta semana fue buena, hemos trabajado muy duro, e hicimos algunos contactos de autobús. Ella tenía miedo al principio pero luego se agregó después de que lo hizo. ¡Estábamos planeando tener ocho investigadores en la iglesia, pero sólo 2 se presentaron! Por lo tanto, es probable que sólo tengamos uno o dos bautismos en el día de la Navidad... ¡pero para el año nuevo podríamos tener 3 o 4 más y eso es bueno!

¡Uno de nuestros investigadores, María Elisa, es la abuela de una estrella de fútbol muy famoso aquí en Argentina! Jajá. Su equipo está en el campeonato de este año, y juega en Vélez Sársfield en Liniers, y su nombre es Víctor Zapata. Así que pensé que era genial. Ella es increíble, la encontramos cuando ella estaba caminando a casa con un montón de bolsas de comida, demasiados para que ella pudiera llevarlas. Así Hermana Lewis y yo la ayudamos a llevarlas a su casa, entonces le enseñamos y ahora su familia está escuchando. Ella tiene 14 hijos, sólo uno de ellos vive con ella, pero los demás están de visita por lo general.

¡Para Navidad tendremos la oportunidad de ir a Moreno, porque la (ex) cuñada de mi compañera se va a bautizar! Pero la cuñada no se quiere bautizar a menos que mi compañera esté ahí, así que vamos a tomar un pequeño viaje, ¡ella probablemente va a ver a su familia también! ¡Suerte! Jajá. ¡Pero sí, ella está súper emocionada!

La cuñada de mi compañera se va a bautizar el 25 de Diciembre y el Presidente Benton nos dio permiso para ir a verlo. Ella vive como a una hora de donde estamos nosotras. ¡Ella es una mini misionera! ¡Yo nunca pude hacerlo pero tengo una compañera que sí! ¡¡¡Y lo mejor es que se llama Hermana López!!! ¡Como yo! jajajajaa ¡Así que, es copada!

¡Pobre abuela...y bueno, en Agosto puedo ir a visitarla! :) ¡Espero que se acuerde de mi!

¿Le pueden quitar las muelas a Tony con los bracket alineadores? ¿No es peligroso eso? ¡Pobre chico, no va a poder comer nada de nada para la navidad!

Si hay muchas familias que tienen internet acá... nosotras vivimos con una familia... ¡La familia Valle! ¡¡¡Ellos son Re buenos!!! Se llama Lourdes y Néstor Valle. También hay la familia Berini... Alejandra Porewbski ella es la presidenta de la Sociedad de Socorro. ¡No sé, hay muchos! Gonzalo Cortese es el esposo de la hija de la Hermana Valle y también consejero de la rama [de Billinghurst].

Hoy estuvimos con la Hermana Scott y la Hermana Alvarado en Ramos [Mejía]. Es divertido, podemos vernos los días de preparación. Creo que dentro de un rato vamos a jugar a futbol.

[Editor's Note] On December 9, 2010, we received the following letter from Sasha via regular mail and the best part of the package was another CD-DVD full of photos and videos, many of which we had never seen before. What a fantastic Christmas gift! Here is what she wrote and we'll share a few of the photos along with the letter.

(To Dad) Heeeeeyyyy! Happy December!!!!

I love December!!!! Ok, so I have some good news, and I have some bad news. Bad news first, right? Well... my most favorite companion in the whole wide world and I are no longer together! :( That sick feeling you had was correct... they took her [Hermana Lewis] out of here, but I am happy because she’s going to Luján with Hermana Clark. I know weird right? [Hermana] Scott left [Luján], she is now in Ramos [Mejia], which is cool because for the first time we will be in the same zone.

The good news... we ended the transfer with two more baptisms!!!! We had two baptisms on Saturday! Mayra Decima and Roxana Flores... we were working with them all transfer to try to get them baptized and finally they agreed! It was sweet! So we had a really good ending! We ended up having 5 baptisms this transfer.

Now you’re probably wondering who my new companion is... well I don’t know!!! I’m training again! So I will find out tomorrow! I could have that Tucker girl or I could have a mini. My guess is a mini because there are some other sisters who haven’t trained yet and they should get the chance. We’ll see!

I’m happy about you and mom! That’s great! I’m glad you guys are seeing all the blessings in your life.

I’m super excited about you coming down. President said you can come to transfer meeting, which is on Monday towards the end of February. So what you can do is fly in on Friday or Saturday, come to church with me on Sunday and then to the transfer meeting on Monday. The tour is like a week before the transfer meeting, so you probably won’t get to go to that. Plus, I will try to have a baptism that Saturday so you can be there for my last baptism... wouldn’t that be sweet!?

So, I’m super sad about not being with Hermana Lewis, but I know it’s the Lord’s will so I will find the strength to get over it. Ha-ha. President Benton was like; “This is just as bad as when Hermana Bulger left isn’t it?” Ha-ha.

I’m no longer with Hermana Lewis. :( I’m going to be training again, so this year is turning out to be a little different than I expected, but that’s ok. Hermana Lewis went to Luján!!!

That is so great that you all could talk to President Benton. He is so great.

We had two baptisms on Saturday. I sent several photos to Dad! I hope you like them! Ha-ha. Some turned out pretty good. Two younger girls were baptized, Roxana, 17 and Mayra, 10. The man who baptized them is named Fernando Cáceres.

Today a missionary who had previously served here came to visit. He was in Ciudad Evita just a few months before I arrived on my mission. His name is Elder Volkert or something like that. Friendly person, he came with his parents.

(A Papá) ¡¡¡Oyeee!!! ¡¡¡Feliz diciembre!!!

¡¡Me encanta diciembre!! Bueno, tengo buenas noticias, y tengo malas noticias. Las malas noticias primero, ¿verdad? Bueno... ¡Mi compañera favorita en el mundo entero y yo ya no estamos juntas! :( Ese mal presentimiento que tuviste era cierto... la sacaron de aquí, pero estoy feliz porque va a Luján para estar con la Hermana Clark. ¡Qué raro! ¿No? Hermana Scott la han trasladado a Ramos, lo que es genial porque por primera vez durante mi misión estaremos en la misma zona.

La buena noticia... ¡¡Hermana Lewis y yo terminamos este traslado con dos bautismos más!! ¡Celebramos dos bautismos el sábado! Mayra Décima [de 10 años] y Roxana Flores [de 17 años]... ¡estábamos trabajando con ellas durante todo el traslado para que se bautizaran y finalmente lo hicieron! ¡Era tan dulce! ¡Así que tuvimos un final muy bueno a nuestro compañerismo! Estoy súper entusiasmada que vayas a venir aquí. El presidente dijo que puedes venir a la reunión del traslado, que es al final de febrero. Entonces, lo que puedes hacer es volar aquí el viernes o sábado, venir a la iglesia conmigo el domingo y entonces asistir a la reunión del traslado el lunes. A penas el tour de los pastores es como una semana antes que el traslado entonces no vas a poder hacer eso. Además intentaré celebrar otro bautismo ese sábado para que puedas estar allí para mi último bautismo… ¿No sería dulce eso?

Por lo tanto, estoy súper triste por no estar con la Hermana Lewis, pero sé que es la voluntad del Señor y así voy a encontrar la fuerza para superarlo. Jajá. Presidente Benton decía; “Esto es casi tan malo como cuando la Hermana Bulger se fuera. ¿No?” Jajá.

(To Dad) Heeeey!

Thanks for all the advice! Happy Thanksgiving again! We didn’t have anything to eat that day, so we bought some McDonalds... it’s as American as you can get!

So we had another baptism!!! Her name is Antonella Cousin and she’s 6 months pregnant!! So it was really cool because I always wanted to baptize a pregnant woman!!! She and her husband got married on Thursday (we didn’t get to go to the wedding because it was in the North mission, darn) and then she got baptized on Friday. Her husband (Leo) is a member and they have a 3 year old daughter (Julieta) who is the cutest thing ever! It was really cute. The Assistants came to our baptism because one of them, Elder Brooks, used to be in Billinghurst and she wanted him to baptize her.

Yes, it’s week six of the transfer!!! :( It went by SOOOOOOOO fast! I think you may be wrong on your predictions, but I don’t know we’ll see! It’s a white wash, we’re doing really well together, plus we both just got here I hope and think that they’d leave us together another transfer. If one of us does leave it may very likely be me, Hermana Lewis already has 5 areas, and if they move her again she’d have 6. I have 4 areas right now, so I could be moved and have 5. I don’t think I’ll train Hermana Tucker, there are still two Hermanas that have been here just as long as I have and haven’t trained yet, so I’m sure they’ll get the opportunity.

Hermana Scott and Clark had a baptism this weekend but I don’t know who got baptized! I’m excited to find out next week. They were teaching a family that I found and an older woman as well... so maybe one of them. [Via Facebook, the family of Hermana Clark posted] "Hermana Clark says: our investigator Carmina was baptized on Saturday. Yes! She's the 8 year old sister of a recent convert and she has un montón de (a ton of) personality -- Favorite moment: watching her boss around the elders when they came to do her baptismal interview. And thanks, everybody, for the letters and support! Keep writing!"

Hermana Lewis and I already have 4 baptismal dates for Christmas day! So I hope we can both be here to enjoy them together! We had 7 investigators at church yesterday and we have 6 baptismal dates. We started that purification thing that Hermana Bulger and I did last year and it’s paying off really well!!! We can feel the Spirit stronger and we are being guided to amazing people! It’s called purification, the 40 day thing, and our last day is Christmas day so hopefully we’ll have an explosion in Billinghurst... that’s what we’re hoping!

We are having our zone activity today, but it’s really hot outside! I guess that’s good, we want to drop a few kilos before transfer meeting!

Tell Elder Page thanks for his info... that would be sad if I can’t get my package! So... don’t FedEx it!

I like your idea about coming earlier! I don’t think it would be a problem, I will talk to President Benton to see what he says, but I’m sure he will be fine with it.

[Dad] Congratulations on the baptism gorgeous! What a great surprise and how merciful is the Lord! Please send me photos and her name if you can. WOW! What an incredible week all of the Hermana’s had this week!!! That is just so fantastic! Have fun at your Zone Activity. Let me know what President Benton says about the earlier dates. HUGS! So that you know, yes, your brother did receive the shirt and it is really nice – if you’re a girl! Ah hahahaha! Nevertheless he liked it, but I think you’ll be the one wearing it after your mission. :)

That’s great, I love chicken milanesas!!!!! They are so good! It is similar to beef empanadas... but chicken. They’re called milanesas. Then you need to learn to make dulce de leche... just need patience. Your Thanksgiving sounded really yummy. Sister Lewis and I didn't have anything... went to McDonald's which is the only thing American around here.

That’s great that you will go to the temple next week! Are the guy's parents members?

This week was super good! We had a baptism, Antonella, she is six months pregnant! But now they’re moving. She’s going with her husband to Italy. They were married on Thursday and she was baptized Friday, her husband, Leo, is already a member. Well, I've got their address in Italy, so when we go to Spain I can try to go see them! She has a brother living in Spain.

We had seven investigators at Church yesterday! We are now taking out many baptismal invitations for Christmas day because this year Christmas day is a Saturday! That's nice! Huh?

[Excerpt from the blog of Elder Cameron Brooks] The Valle family from a past area Billinghurst made me a birthday Oreo cake and sent it to me via the Sister missionaries who are working there now, Sister Lopez and Sister Lewis. The Valle family is a great family, I love them. But the highlight of my birthday was a phone call I received that night. As we were getting ready to finish up everything at the office I received a call from the Sister missionaries who are working in Billinghurst. They called us updating us about a baptism that they were planning and at the end of our conversation they told me that Antonella the investigator that was preparing to get baptized asked if I could and if i would baptize her! Antonella you may remember was an investigator that we found and taught when I was in Billinghurst about a year ago. Antonella had desires to get baptized when we were teaching her but she was not married to her husband at the time. A year has now passed and this past week Antonella and Leo got married and Antonella was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Friday the 26 of November 2010. She was confirmed a member on Sunday! I am very grateful for the faith that Antonella has shown and for the decision she has made in her life and within her family to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am also grateful for the Sister missionaries, Sister Lopez and Sister Lewis and for their persistence, faith, and for helping and preparing Antonella for this amazing step in her life. The spirit was strong during the baptism and I felt very happy for Antonella and her family. I love them and I am grateful for their examples.

[Editor’s Note] On Monday evening, around 7 P.M., on November 29, we received a phone call at our home from Sasha’s Mission President, Evrett Benton. Of course, as any missionary parent knows, a Mission President is typically too busy taking care of the work of the Lord to be calling parents half-a-world away, unless... something is wrong, usually something quite serious!

The Caller ID indicated a “Private Number” and most of the time I don’t even answer if it says that, but something prompted me to go ahead and answer. So I answered. I heard an enthusiastic voice say; “Brother Zimmerman!” I knew the voice; it sounded very familiar, I knew it had to be someone from Church. After all, most other people in my life don’t address me as “Brother" unless they're from Church. The voice, I had heard it many times, but I just couldn’t bring to mind who it might be. Then he said; “This is President Benton!” Now it made sense, it was the voice that I have heard many times over while listening to his and Sister Benton’s voices on the “Into All the World” radio program!

Of course, all of this is happening within a few short seconds, but as soon as my mind wrapped around the idea that it really was President Benton calling from Argentina... my heart stopped, my lungs stopped delivering oxygen and my brain turned to mush as I immediately started to assume the worst... that something serious had happened to our beautiful daughter.

Obviously he is keenly aware of the impact that a phone call from “the Mission President” might have on the person receiving the call, so he immediately started to let me know that everything was alright. We exchanged some pleasantries; he told me some wonderful things that brought me an immense amount of joy, saying that Sasha was truly one of his best missionaries and he was grateful to have her in his mission. I could feel the love he has for her and I know that she is in the best possible care that can be provided.

We spoke about some of the things that she has been doing in the mission and some of the wonderful goals that she and Hermana Lewis have set for themselves. We spoke about his son, we spoke about Billinghurst, and Elder Brooks who is one of his Assistants who has also served in Billinghurst. President Benton is such a wonderful, sweet and caring man of God.

Yet, I felt that there had to be a reason for the phone call, President Benton then explained that earlier in the day, Sasha had taken some money out of an ATM and was in such a hurry to get to where she was going that she accidentally left the credit card in the ATM and she wasn't sure if it had been taken or recovered by the bank. He wanted us to know so that we could decide what to do and to check to see whether or not any unauthorized transactions had taken place. I immediately looked at her online account information and luckily the only withdrawal listed was the one that she made. That was a good sign. He explained that Sasha was going to try to go to the same bank again the next day to see if they had recovered the card. Since it would be a huge pain to get a new card and deliver it safely down to Argentina, we hoped that she would get it back. Paqui had the great idea to transfer all of the money to another account just in case someone had taken the card, that way if they tried to purchase something the transaction would be declined.

I am so grateful that President Benton took the time out of his incredibly busy schedule to let us know what had happened – and I was extremely grateful to the Lord that the reason the Mission President called was probably the least serious reason that would require him to take the time to call our family.

Whew!

Of course, after the phone call was over, I finally started to calm down and sadly I thought of a few things I would have loved to tell or ask President Benton given the chance to just chat with him again, but in those situations my brain barely keeps my life support systems running, let alone the ability to think clearly and have a good conversation. Besides there's probably not enough time in his three-year assignment to chat with the parents of each of his missionaries. HA!

As if that weren’t enough, the next day, we received another call from President Benton! However, this time Paqui had the pleasure of talking to him as I was away from the house working at my part-time job trying to make enough money to be able to go down to Argentina to meet these wonderful people in Sasha’s life in a few short months. Among other wonderful things, President Benton told Paqui that Sasha was able to recover the credit card from the bank. So in the end, gratefully, we once again see the Lord’s "signature" in blessing and protecting our family during Sasha’s missionary service! Plus having the opportunity to talk with President Benton was a huge honor. Nevertheless, and please don’t take this the wrong way, I hope we don’t have to hear from him again during the time she has remaining on her mission! Hopefully this is the only problem she causes him that requires a phone call back to the States. :)

(A Papá) ¡¡Oye!!

¡Gracias por todos los consejos! ¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias de nuevo! ¡No teníamos nada para comer ese día, así que compramos McDonald’s... es tan estadounidense como el que se puede conseguir!

¡Tuvimos otro bautismo! ¡Su nombre es Antonella Cousin y está embarazada de 6 meses! ¡Así que fue realmente genial, porque siempre he querido bautizar a una mujer embarazada! Ella y su esposo se casaron el jueves (No pudimos ir a la boda porque estaba en la misión del Norte, maldito) y luego fue bautizado el viernes. Su marido (Leo) es un miembro y tienen una hija de 3 años (Julieta), ¡que es la cosa más linda! Fue muy lindo. Los ayudantes llegaron a nuestro bautismo, porque uno de ellos, el Elder Brooks, antes sirvió en Billinghurst y ella quería que él la bautizara.

¡Sí, es la semana seis del traslado! :( Este traslado se pasó tan rápido, Creo que puedes estar equivocado en tus predicciones, pero no sé vamos a ver, es un blanqueo, estamos trabajando realmente bien juntas, además las dos nos acabamos de llegar. Espero y pienso que nos dejarán aquí juntas otro traslado. Si uno de nosotras se fuera, muy probable que pueda ser yo, Hermana Lewis ya ha servido en 5 áreas, y si la trasladasen a otra área nuevo, tendría 6. Yo tengo 4 áreas en este momento, si me mudasen yo tendría 5. No creo que yo vaya a entrenar a la Hermana Tucker, aún hay dos Hermanas que han estado aquí tanto tiempo como lo que yo tengo y no han entrenado todavía, así que estoy seguro de que les darían la oportunidad a una de ellas.

¡Hermana Scott y Hermana Clark tuvieron un bautismo este fin de semana pero no sé quién fue bautizado! Estoy emocionada de enterarme la próxima semana. Ellos estaban enseñando una familia que yo había encontrado y a una mujer mayor y así... así que tal vez sea uno de ellos.

¡Hermana Lewis y yo ya tenemos cuatro fechas de bautismo para el día de Navidad! ¡Así que espero que ambas podamos estar aquí para disfrutarlo juntas! Tuvimos siete investigadores en la iglesia el domingo y tenemos seis fechas de bautismo. ¡Empezamos a esa cosa de purificación que la Hermana Bulger y yo hicimos el año pasado y ya se ven los resultados! ¡Podemos sentir el espíritu más fuerte y estamos siendo guiados a gente maravillosa! Es la purificación de 40 días y el último día es el día de Navidad, así que esperamos que tendremos una explosión [de espiritualidad] en Billinghurst... ¡es lo que estamos esperando!

¡Estamos teniendo nuestra actividad de la zona hoy en día, pero realmente hace calor afuera! ¡Supongo que eso es bueno, queremos dejar caer unos cuantos kilos antes de la reunión de traslado!

¡¡¡¡Qué bueno, me encantan las milanesas de pollo!!!! ¡Son tan ricos! Es parecido a carne empanada... pero pollo. Se le llama milanesa. Después aprende a hacer dulce de leche.....solo se necesita paciencia. Que rico su Thanksgiving. La Hermana Lewis y yo no tuvimos nada... fuimos a Mcdonald’s es lo único americano que hay por acá.

¡Qué bueno que van a ir al templo la semana que viene! ¿Los padres del chico son miembros?

¡Esta semana fue súper buena! Tuvimos un bautismo, ¡Antonella, ella está embarazada de 6 meses! Pero ahora se mudan, se va con su esposo a Italia. Ellos se casaron el jueves y ella se bautizó el viernes, el esposo, Leo ya es miembro. ¡Bueno, tengo la dirección de Italia así que, cuando vaya a España puedo tratar de verles! Ella tiene un hermano viviendo en España.

Weird! So Hermana Di Stefano got married?! WOW! That was sooner than I thought; I had heard it was supposed to be in January. That’s great though!

Sounds like you had fun with grandpa; I imagine you guys went to the flying field? I’m always seeing airplanes here, I think we’re close to an airport, I see the huge ones...jets...and FedEx planes. You can FedEx me something if you want, I’ll see the plane before it lands...and I’ll know it’s for me! :)

I’m excited to see the new Harry Potter movie too! I just have to wait three more months... but I heard it comes out in two parts? That’s just what Hermana Lewis told me, she knows more about it than I do.

That’s great about your surgery! What day? I hope it all goes well... if you react to the drugs like I did, I’m sure it will go well! Very well! Ha-ha.

My companion and I have to give the Relief Society class on Sunday, about the priesthood! Ha-ha. It will be fun. I gave a few in Lujan so I’m starting to get used to it. The secret is in the treats, people think that only kids like to receive treats when they answer correctly, but adults do too! Shhh! It’s a secret!

Yeah you can come those days, you can even come sooner if you want, now that mom may not be coming. I picked those days because I thought it was her spring break... but the actual day the transfer ends is [on another day], which is when all the missionaries get together and we sing and the ones that are leaving share their testimony, etc. But it’s whatever you want!

We had Stake Conference this weekend for the Oeste stake. It was in Ramos Mejia (Hermana Godfrey’s area). It was SOOOO good! I loved it! Elder Aidukaitis and his wife were there! I got to speak to them after! His wife is just as tall as he is, super nice, she’s also from Brazil. Their children are trilingual! They know Portuguese and Spanish and they are studying in an English speaking school. I loved his talk! I wrote about it in mom’s letter! :)

Thanks for my package; I’m excited to get it! It’s ok if it has already been Halloween, I’ll still eat the candy! You should FedEx it to me! I think it’s safer that way. idk

[Dad] We'll include those items you mentioned in the Christmas box, no problem. The reason I am leaving those dates for the trip is so that Mom & Tony can come IF the opportunity arrives. Plus I left the trip on those dates just in case something happens with me and I can't make it; Mom would still be able to go instead. Yet, if I need to get there earlier (or later) just let me know, I still haven't bought the tickets yet. My main concern is that you are able to finish strong. El Sol? Photos? :)

[Sasha] No... you can do whatever you want... I was just saying that if you want to be there when I bear my testimony and meet the other Hermanas’ that are leaving with me you can come sooner. But if that’s not important to you, you can come later and just meet my converts and stuff. I’m fine with either. Here’s the SOL! I’m also working on getting that CD made, but today everything is closed! If I find a place I’ll go!

[Dad] You're right, that is important to me, I'll have to think that over really good. I appreciate the idea and heads up. Glad everything else is okay. Don't mess up your day over the CD, you can get it to me whenever you get the chance, but that would make the greatest Christmas present EVER! :) BTW, I did not get to go flying with Grandpa, we rarely do that anymore, but if I did, it still would NOT be boring!! :) Glad you get to see lots of planes, wish I could. :)

(To Mom) Hello!!!

That is so great that you’re coming! I hope everyone can come. I was talking with President Benton, I believe Dad could come whenever he wants. Perhaps he would like to come earlier and that way he can meet my companion [Hermana Lewis], and Hermana Daniels, Hermana Scott, etc. I only talked about coming in March because that is when you could come during Spring Break. I don’t know... do whatever you want, but he could come earlier if he wants.

This week was Stake Conference and it was REALLY good!!! I loved it! President Benton and his wife and also Elder Aidukaitis and his wife were there. I learned a lot! Elder Aidukaitis spoke about the Parable of the 10 virgins and how 5 of them were prepared, but the other 5 weren’t. He said that we need to be prepared, and he said that the oil of our day is our temple recommend; it should be current. We should always have a current temple recommend even if we’re not near a temple. And afterwards I started thinking about the day I went to the temple and how your recommend had expired! Hahahaha that was funny!

Yes, I have summer clothes. Yes, you can send me Ranch dressing, tacos, maybe a cookie mix or something and also sloppy Joe’s! I miss sloppy Joe’s... our recent convert, Lorenzo, said that many years ago an Elder cooked sloppy Joe’s for him and he really like them.

Wow! I didn’t know that Cristina was getting married! That’s great! Congratulations!! That is also great about Courtni!!! California would be the best place to go in the States along with New York and Washington D.C. Big places with lots of culture.

Today I wrote Aunt Mari Loli but I won’t be able to send it until tomorrow because it is a holiday here and everything is closed. There’s always some holiday here! Ha-ha.

¡Extraño! No sabía que la Hermana Di Stefano se casaba ya. ¡WOW! Eso fue antes de lo que pensaba; Había oído que iba a ser en enero. ¡Sin embargo es maravilloso!

Suena como si te lo has pasado bien con el abuelo; me imagino que fueron al campo de vuelo. Siempre estoy viendo aviones aquí, creo que estamos cerca de un aeropuerto, veo... los enormes jet... y los aviones de FedEx. Tú puedes enviarme algo por FedEx si lo deseas, veré al avión antes de que llegue el paquete... ¡y yo podría imaginar que es para mí! :)

¡Estoy emocionada para ver la nueva película de Harry Potter! Sólo tengo que esperar tres meses... ¿Pero escuché que sale en dos partes? Eso es lo que Hermana Lewis me dijo, ella sabe más sobre el asunto que yo.

Es una buena noticia sobre la cirugía. ¿Qué día van a hacerlo? Espero que todo va bien... ¡Si tu reaccionas a las drogas como yo lo hice, estoy seguro de que te irá bien! ¡Muy bien! Jajá.

¡Mi compañera y yo tenemos que dar la clase de la Sociedad de Socorro el domingo, tenemos que hablar sobre el sacerdocio! Jajá. Va a ser entretenido. Sí tú puedes venir en aquellos días, tú aún puedes venir antes si lo deseas, ya que mamá no puede venir. Escogí esos días porque pensé que eran las vacaciones de primavera... pero el día real del traslado es [otro día diferente], que es cuando todos los misioneros estarán juntos y cantamos y los que van a salir compartan su testimonio, etc. ¡Pero es lo que quieras!

Tuvimos la Conferencia de Estaca este fin de semana para la zona de Oeste. Fue en Ramos Mejía (área de Hermana Godfrey). ¡Fue REEEE buena! ¡Me encantó! ¡Elder Aidukaitis y su esposa estaban allí! ¡Tuve la oportunidad de hablar con ellos después! La razón que estoy dejando a esas fechas para el viaje es para qué Mamá y Tony pueden venir si llega la oportunidad. Además dejé el viaje en esas fechas en caso de que me ocurra algo y no puedo hacerlo; Mamá todavía sería capaz de ir en mi lugar. Sin embargo, si necesito llegar antes (o después) sólo avísame, yo todavía no he comprado los billetes aún. Mi preocupación principal es que eres capaz de terminar fuerte. ¿El sol? ¿Fotos? :)

[Sasha] No... puedes hacer lo que quieras... sólo lo decía si deseabas estar acá cuando doy mi testimonio y termino con las demás Hermanas que están terminando conmigo, tendrías que venir antes. Si tú sabes qué imágenes quieres, yo puedo hacer un pedido. Ella tiene todas las imágenes que se encuentran en la Liahona y en todas partes. Quizás le gustaría venir antes, así él puede conocer a mi compañera y la Hermana Daniels, Hermana Scott, etc. Yo había dicho que podría venir en marzo porque pensaba que tú ibas a venir y esos eran los días de tu descanso de primavera. No sé... hagan lo que quieran, pero él puede venir antes si quiere.

¡¡¡Esta semana fue la Conferencia de Estaca para nosotros y fue reeeee bueno!!! ¡Me encantó! ¡Estuvo el Presidente Benton y su esposa y también el Elder Aidukaitis y su esposa! ¡Aprendí mucho! El Elder Aidukaitis compartió sobre la parábola de las 10 vírgenes, y como 5 estaban preparadas pero las otras 5 no. Dijo que nosotros necesitamos prepararnos, y dijo que nuestro aceite hoy en día es nuestra recomendación al templo, debe estar vigente. Siempre debemos tener una recomendación vigente, no importa si no hay un templo cerca. ¡Y después me puse a pensar en ti el día que pase por el templo y como tu recomendación se había expirado! jajajaja ¡Era gracioso!

Sí ya tengo ropa de verano. Sí puedes enviarme ranch dressing, tacos, quizás un cookie mix o algo, y también sloppy joe’s! Extraño sloppy joe’s... nuestro converso reciente, Lorenzo dijo que hace muchos años un Elder le cocinó sloppy joe’s y que le gustó.

(To Dad) Hello!!!!!

How’s it going? It is starting to get super hot here again! It’s good, humid. Another great week!

We worked really hard and found an amazing family!!! Leo, Mara and their two kids. They are so good! The only catch is that Leo is under house arrest! He’s got the whole bracelet around his leg and everything, but we love them!!!! He’s a good guy! He gets emotional every time we teach them and they all have great questions! They’re going to come to the Stake conference this next weekend. The story is that he got accused of being an accomplice in a bank robbery about three years ago. The two guys that did it used walkie-talkies that were under his name. But he’s almost done with his sentence.

Some investigator girls that came to church yesterday...

The best part of this week was last night! Presidente Benton invited Hermana Lewis and me to come to the mission home for dinner... and guess who was there? HERMANA LEGUIZAMON!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome!!!!! I loved it! We had a really good dinner, baked potatoes, salad (with RANCH!!!), meat, corn... It was basically Hermana Lewis’ and I Thanksgiving!!! LOVED IT!!!!

(To Mom) Hi!!!!

That is so great that Dad is going to get to come! What days? You should all try to come. If Grandma said yes about Tony, then? It seems that you are trying really hard.

This was a great week. We were going to have a baptism on Sunday, but the girl didn’t come to Church. But we have 4 people that are ready to take that special step.

This next weekend is going to be the Stake Conference here in the West Stake and it is going to be great because Elder Aidukaitis is going to attend!!!!

Last night we had something really special happen. I don’t know if you are aware of it or not, but Valeria Leguizamon is here in Buenos Aires visiting people. The President and Sister Benton invited my companion and I to go to the Mission Home (It has been almost a year since I was there) to have dinner!!!! And the best part is when we arrived, Valeria was there!!!! WOO! It was wonderful!!! She is so great!

¿Cómo va todo? ¡Se está empezando a estar súper caliente aquí de nuevo! Es húmedo, pero bueno. ¡Hemos pasado otra gran semana!

¡Hemos trabajado muy duro y encontramos una gran familia! Leo, Mara y sus dos hijos. ¡Son tan buenos! ¡El único problema es que Leo está bajo arresto domiciliario! ¡¡Él tiene el brazalete alrededor de la pierna y todo, pero nos encantan!! ¡Es un buen tipo! ¡Él se emociona cada vez que les enseñamos y todos ellos tienen grandes preguntas! Ellos van a venir a la conferencia de estaca este próximo fin de semana. La historia es que fue acusado de ser cómplice en robar a un banco hace unos tres años. Los dos chicos que lo hicieron utilizaron walkie-talkies que estaban bajo su nombre. Pero está casi terminado con su condena.

¡La mejor parte de esta semana fue la última noche! Presidente Benton invitó a Hermana Lewis y yo a que fuéramos a la casa de la misión para la cena... ¿y adivinad quién estaba allí? ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡HERMANA LEGUIZAMON!!!!!!!!!!! ¡¡¡¡¡Fue impresionante!!!!! ¡Me encantó! Tuvimos una cena muy buena, papas al horno, ensalada con ¡¡¡RANCHO!!! La carne, el maíz... ¡Era básicamente la cena del día de la Acción de Gracias para la Hermana Lewis y yo! ¡¡NOS ENCANTÓ!!

¡Qué bueno que papa va a venir! ¿Qué días? Deben tratar de venir todos. Si Grandma dijo que sí a lo de Tony, ¿entonces? Parece que te estás esforzando mucho.

Esta semana fue muy buena. Íbamos a tener un bautismo el domingo pero la chica no vino a la iglesia. Pero tenemos 4 personas listas para tomar ese paso tan especial.

¡¡¡¡Este próximo fin de semana va a ser la conferencia de estaca aquí en Oeste y va a ser re bueno porque va a venir el Elder Aidukaitis!!!!

Anoche tuvimos algo muy especial que nos paso. No sé si saben pero Valeria Leguizamon está en Buenos Aires visitando a personas. ¡¡¡¡El Presidente y la Hermana Benton nos invitaron a mí y a mi compañera a ir a la casa de la misión (hace ya casi un año que no voy) para cenar!!!! ¡¡¡¡Y lo mejor es que cuando llegamos estaba Valeria!!!! :) ¡WOO! ¡¡¡Fue tan bueno!!! ¡Ella es tan buena!

Hello!!!!

How is it going? First off I want you to know that I love you and I have special permission from President Benton to write you today. Which means this is extremely important! We just finished talking about my departure date. The offices need to know asap. President Benton told me he has permission to let me leave 30 days before or after the day I entered the MTC. So I would technically leave [on that date] but he could forward that or delay that depending on you guys.

He suggested that it would be best if you and mom both came down, he also said Tony probably would not get as much out of it because of his age... he just would not care as much. I agree, I think you and mom should both try to come down. This truly is the only opportunity we will ever have of coming here. I know you say that in four or five years we could all come down, but who knows... something may happen, I could be married and far away, etc. I feel like we should take advantage of this great opportunity.

I have a wonderful Mission President who is willing to help! You and mom now have friends here because of me! I know mom is worried about Tony staying alone, but I know nothing will happen to your flight, and if it did, why would you want Tony with you? Anyway, please pray about it, do everything you can to make it down here. It will be worth it! I promise. It is your call. President Benton wants to know what days, who, etc.

I love you!!!!! Please make this happen!!!! It will be so special, I will still be fresh in everyone’s minds as well because I just served them anywhere from a year to a few months ago. Ok... I LOVE YOU!!!!! Make the right decision!!!! I won’t ask for anything else ever again! [Nice to have that in writing! Ha!] This means the world to me!

Tomorrow we have a conference, Hermana Lewis and I have to give a class for all of the missionaries. It’s going to be a good time.

A lot of the people that I had the opportunity to teach in Luján are going to be getting baptized soon. I am so happy, just hoping that the President will let me return there to see them, we’ll see!

How’s it going???? We had a baptism on Saturday, it was really neat! His name is Lorenzo Arana and also a kid from the ward got baptized, Gonzalo. I took some pictures.

Yes something funny happened this week. We went to a less active family’s house and when we got there my companion and I both really had to go to the bathroom. I had to #2 and she had to #1. So when we walked in I went first. I made a really big poop! hahaha It was SO big that when I flushed the toilet it wouldn’t go down! Ha-ha. I tried to flush the toilet again, but it still wouldn’t go down. So I left it there and figured it would be a nice little surprise for Hermana Lewis. I know she would flush it down when she was done using the bathroom. So I left the bathroom and she went in, when she came out she was laughing. So we taught the family a little and then we left. When we left the house she started laughing really hard, I asked what was so funny. She said my poop! Then she told me she wasn’t able to flush it down!! AHHH! So the family is going to find the poop in the toilet, but the best part is that they’re going to think it’s her because she was the last one in there! WOO! hahaha

I heard about Harry Potter coming out. That’s going to be a good one, it’s the last one!

(A Tony) [Tony es el hermano menor de Sasha. Él es un adolescente y cada semana le pregunta a su hermana mayor, si algo gracioso ha sucedido; como caer en el lodo, mojándose en la lluvia, o una situación social rara...algo que traería una risa adolescente. Mientras que el resto de nosotros estábamos asqueados… ¡Funcionó! Tony se rió mucho de esta historia... disculpas]

¿¿Cómo va todo?? ¡Tuvimos un bautismo el sábado, fue muy bueno! Su nombre es Lorenzo Arana y también un chico del barrio se bautizó; Gonzalo. Saqué algunas fotos.

La Hermana Koria Lewis, Gonzalo, y Hermana Sasha López en el 6 de noviembre de 2.010. Este jóven es el hijo de miembros de la iglesia y las Hermanas les ayudó a enseñarle.

Sí algo gracioso sucedió esta semana. Fuimos a la casa de una familia menos activa, y cuando llegamos, mi compañero y yo realmente teníamos que ir al baño. Tuve que hacer el # 2 y ella tuvo que hacer el # 1. Así que cuando entramos fui primero. ¡Hice una caca muy grande! jajaja ¡Era tan grande que cuando le tiré de la cadena no bajó! Jajá. Traté de tirar de la cadena de nuevo, pero aún así no iba a bajar. Así que lo dejé allí y pensé que sería una sorpresa poco agradable para la Hermana Lewis. Yo sé que ella soltaría a la cadena y el agua cuando terminaba con el cuarto de baño. Así que me fui del baño y ella entró, cuando salió ella se reía. Así que enseñamos a la familia un poco y luego nos fuimos. Cuando salimos de la casa Hermana Lewis se echó a reír muy fuerte, le pregunté qué era tan gracioso. ¡Ella dijo que era mi caca! ¡¡Entonces ella me dijo que no fue capaz de enviarlo abajo!! AHHH! ¡Así que la familia se va a encontrar la caca en el inodoro, pero la mejor parte es que ellos van a pensar que es de ella, porque ella fue la última en el baño! ¡WOO! jajaja

He oído acerca de Harry Potter que va a salir. ¡Eso va a ser buena, es la última!

(To Mom/Dad) Hi! Happy November!!!

What a week!!! Hermana Lewis and I had a baptism our first week in a white wash! It was great!!! María Flores is her name! She has two younger daughters. It was truly a miracle because when we got to her house her oldest daughter (Roxana) had taken off with the youngest daughter (Milagros) and María was freaking out because she didn’t know where they went. We called Roxana’s cell phone but she didn’t answer, in fact, she turned it off! So for an hour and a half we were trying to calm María down. She didn’t want to get baptized without her daughters there. We finally convinced her to come with us in a Taxi to go look for her daughters; we went to the place she thought they might be... they weren’t! We talked her to going to the church with us (everyone was already there waiting) and we promised her everything would work out. She changed into her white clothes, the song and prayer started. After the 2nd talk we all walked over to the baptismal font, as we were making our way over her daughters walked into the chapel. Miracle!!! So they got to be there and see their mother. It was really special!

Yesterday we had a meeting with the stake before church so we had no time to go look for investigators, but 4 of them showed up on their own! It was great! Our friend Lorenzo is getting baptized on Saturday. We went to his house after church and put a baptismal date with him. He is amazing! He is a cab driver and learned English with some Elders like 40 years ago. He’s waaaay good and the branch needs him, he is already calling himself Mormon and is planning on going to the temple in a year!!!

Tonight we have a Family Home Evening with a part-member family. We are trying to help them and get the rest of them in the baptismal font. They have like 5 kids, the oldest is a member. The youngest is two. Hermana Lewis and I are going to make brownies!

Billinghurst is an amazing area! We are seeing a lot of miracles!!! The members are amazing, they love giving us references and it’s perfect because it makes the work a lot easier!

Well, I don’t know who is coming, if all of you are, or just one. I don’t want to make that decision, but it’s all ready; a place to stay, people to visit, etc. Just try everything you can to get everyone here, it’s worth it! I work hard because I love the Lord, but what motivates me to keep going is the image of you and mom and Tony coming to meet all these wonderful people, these people that wouldn’t have otherwise known that they can have an eternal family. I want them to meet mine!

I am trying to put on the pictures of the baptism, the computer isn’t reading them. I don’t know why.

Happy November!! It’s going to be Thanksgiving soon! WOO! Too bad we don’t have thanksgiving here. No, they don’t celebrate Halloween in Argentina. My companion and I celebrated it anyway, we had candy corn and pixy sticks! We dressed up as missionaries! Ha-ha. Who is Kelsey?
